ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
From mid-March 2020, The Junction Church moved all its services Online in accordance with the Government guidelines that were put in place. This saw a major shift in the way that the church was run and how the congregation was catered for. Community and working together continued to be high priorities during this time, where many people will have felt isolated, and so The Junction Church worked hard to involve many members of the congregation in ‘at-home’ participation of the Online Services that were being produced.
The Junction Church worked closely with other local churches and were able to set up a safe, socially distanced recording studio in July 2020, allowing a few members of the team to come and produce online content for both the main services and other shorter videos that could be released during the week to keep the community engaged and encouraged during this difficult season. The Kids Work also moved online during this season, with the Kids Team working hard to create engaging content that would help the kids in the community to have fun from their homes and encourage them during this difficult time. The Kids Team also created and distributed Kids Care Packages with lots of fun games, sweets and materials to keep the children engaged at home.
Pastoral support continued to be a high priority for The Junction Church, and although unable to meet in-person, regular Zoom calls and meetings were arranged to allow people to have a space to get together, chat and pray over the things that were going on in their lives. Life Groups were also continued Online enabling everyone to remain connected in their community even though physically distanced.
Community outreach was forefront for The Junction Church during this season, where it was recognised that the need for support in the local areas was higher than ever. The Junction Church organized Family Care Packages, Christmas Boxes for local children, Christmas Gift Bags for over 6 local Care Homes and each of their residents and also pioneered and delivered over 2500 Wellbeing Boxes for School Children to assist in their transition back into schools in January 2021.
The Junction Church saw a resumption of in-person gatherings across Loughborough, Leicester and Nottingham in September 2020, where it was ensured that all meetings followed strict Covid-robust measures to keep everyone safe. This included introducing a booking-in system, one-way systems within venues, lots of ventilation, sanitiser stations, socially distanced chairs within the auditorium and strict mask wearing for all team and attendees. The Junction Church continued to Live Stream the service online for any of the congregation unable to attend in person during this time.
From December 2020, Pastor Roy took on leadership of The Beacon Christian Centre as part of his role as AoG Area Leader. The Junction Church team played a big role in assisting this congregation in resuming their in-person church services, helping them to put into place all the measure required to be Covid secure. Acting as a bridge between the two congregations, Pastor Roy’s leadership has allowed a sharing of resources enabling The Junction Church to use the Office Space located at The Beacon Christian Centre. This asset has further allowed The Junction Church to expand its community outreach within another of the larger, deprived estates in Loughborough.
