|Summary of the purposes of<br>the charity as set out in its<br>governing document|Para 1.17|The primary objectives of Guru Nanak’s<br>Mission (GNM) are the prevention and relief<br>of poverty, for the public benefit in<br>Nottingham and the surrounding areas, in<br>particular but not exclusively through the<br>provision of free hot food to people who are<br>homeless or at risk of becoming homeless<br>and/ or in financial need.<br>Guru Nanak’s Mission also support projects<br>and events aimed at promoting education<br>and<br>physical<br>activity<br>amongst<br>young<br>children. This support is primarily via the<br>provision of food for community events.<br>The activities of the CIO also serve to benefit<br>volunteers - volunteers express that they<br>benefit from the social aspect of the project.<br>Feedback from refugees who have used the<br>service and then signed up as volunteers<br>has been outstanding in that GNM have<br>provided a platform for social inclusion and<br>a sense of personal worth and purpose<br>within the community.<br>The activities of the CIO encourage social<br>responsibility and support the notions of<br>collective conscience, strong communities<br>and social responsibility.|

On average we<br>provide 200 meals a week.<br>Additional activities include:<br>• Provision of food parcels to local charities<br>and vulnerable individuals<br>We work in collaboration of organisations<br>who deal with recovery services for drugs<br>and alcohol, domestic violence and<br>housing.<br>• Provision of meals to children in school<br>holidays (HAF programme in collaboration<br>with Nottingham Forest Community Trust)<br>• Provision of free food and drinks for<br>community events<br>The service also provides signposting and<br>navigation for vulnerable people who are<br>either homeless or in search of support<br>services such as voluntary sector, housing,<br>short term accommodation, mental health<br>etc. There has been a noticeable increase<br>in people who are in poverty and trying to<br>balance paying their bills or purchasing<br>food.|
