## **The Charity**

Riff Production’s main objects is to promote and encourage high standards of the arts of drama, music, singing and dancing. This is achieved through the creation of inclusion, high-end performing arts opportunities for adults and children regardless of their abilities, disabilities or healthcare needs. Through involvement in the CIO’s productions, individuals will develop skills and understanding along with gaining physical education. Riff aims to promote, sustain and increase each individual and their understanding of performing arts in all areas. This includes: music and sound technology; light design; set design; textiles and costume; film and photography; teamwork; organisation; character enhancement and confidence and all performing arts areas stated above. The CIO will enhance these skills by giving individuals the opportunity to be involved in every area of stage show production. Therefore, Riff aims to advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art of drama and performing arts by any means the trustees see fit, including through the presentation of public performances. Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity’s financial activities during the period and of its financial position at the end of the period. In preparing financial statements giving a true and fair view, the trustees should follow best practice and:

- Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently. Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. State whether applicable UK Accounting Standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to nay material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements. Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.

The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2016. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

The trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the charity and financial information included on the charity’s website. Legislations in the United Kingdom governing the preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation in other jurisdictions.
