Trustees generally meet quarterly but will also meet more frequently if the need arises. Meetings are minuted.

Trustees are put forward by the membership for consideration. New suggested appointments are voted on at a members meeting in all instances.

The trustees determine the day to day operations of the charity or appoint appropriate officers to whom this responsibility is delegated.

3. Objectives and Activities

The Objectives and Activities of the Trust are as follows:

We, as trustees, recognise that it is our legal obligation to ensure that the trust's activities are in line with our objectives and activities and we are satisfied that this is the case for the period in question. The trustees also confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.

4. Achievements and Performance

Key Events

The following activities have been conducted by the charity in the reporting period.

North Church CIO was formed as an independent charity on 19[th] November 2019 and appointed its first salaried pastor on that date. A member’s constitution was formulated and the first members were appointed. Since then additional members have joined and the current membership stands at 11.

The full time paid pastor is also a Trustee and an Elder. This individual has enabled the charity to meet its objectives through promoting the Christian faith directly himself as an evangelist as well as preaching, pastoring and equipping and training others to do the same in support of the charity’s activities.

North Church does not own any buildings but is does rent the local community centre for regular Sunday services and other activities. Also during the year it used a local school gymnasium for its carol service

During the last year with the removal of most of the COVID 19 restrictions it has been possible to resume a number of activities which were limited by those restrictions as well as starting other activities in support of objectives.

Open Sunday worship services have resumed in the local community with regular members and visitors attending.

In the same community venue a weekly Sunday afternoon children group has been started with activities and teaching centred around the Bible. It has also been possible to start a monthly over 60’s group to provide social support to more elderly people who live in the area. As well as a regular thought for the day the sessions have also included quizzes and games and have welcomed a visit from the local Police and Community Support Officer.

There is a weekly open Bible study meeting and a weekly prayer meeting for members.

A Fun Day was held in the summer in the playground of the local school which was attended by over 200 children and adults. The event included a children’s slide, face painting, literature distribution, food stalls, etc.

As mentioned previously a Carol service was held in the local school hall with over 80 local residents attending. As well as worship and preaching a Christingle took place for the children.

A Christmas outreach event/party for members of the local community.

The Trust has paid money to CCLI, ICO and the DBS and has purchased insurance to enable it to legally and safely operate.

During the year the Trust gave money to UFM in support of its activities associated with the crisis in Ukraine.

It has been possible over the past 29 months since the creation of the charity to establish a sound footing in the Beaumont Leys area by the formulation and regular review of key policies including those related to safeguarding, health and safety, conflicts of interest and expense control and reporting.

5. Financial Review

The Trust had an income this financial year of £36,937 all of which was unrestricted and total expenditure of £40,357 (£39,434 unrestricted, £923 restricted) leading to a net loss of £3,420.

An amount of £35,801 (£34,512 unrestricted, £1,289 restricted) was bought forward from the previous year.

The funds at the end of the year amounted to £32,381 (£32,015 unrestricted, £366 restricted)

The Trust considers that it is in a strong position making it able to pursue its charitable aims in the future.

Finances are reviewed in detail each month by the Chairman of Trustees and quarterly by the trustees and members.

6. Reserves Policy

The following is the reserves policy of the North Church CIO. The reserves of the trust are reported to the Chairman of trustees each month and quarterly to trustees and members. The reserves are assessed against previous income and expenditure and categorised as either green (the reserves will last for month than 12 months of normal operations), amber (the reserves will last for less than 12 months but more than 5 months or red (less than 5 months). Appropriate actions are assigned to each categorisation.
