Objectives
The principal objects of the Charity are for the public benefit to advance spiritual, mental and moral improvement by promoting the teachings of Tao and Confucius. It aims to spread core values of Dao which make for a better, more tolerant, open and peaceful society.
Statement of Faith
We believe that there is one God, we believe God is what we called the Dao, eternally existent in everything. We believe that the Dao ultimately governs everything.
We believe that the Dao is the origin, and the Dao is also the law of everything.
We believe that all souls are given life by Dao, invisible from our naked eye, yet it manifests as the quality of morality as kindness, virtuous and truthfulness.
We believe that everyone’s soul come from Dao, everyone’s life is given by Dao, and everything relies on Dao.
We believe that by helping our fellow people to actualising the indwelling of Dao within everyone, enables them to live a godly life. A life that is with good quality, morality, loyalty, civility, respect and autonomously harmonious.
Structure, governance and management
Nan Ping Spiritual Cultivation Organization of the UK was founded as a Company Limited by Guarantee and not having a Share Capital in November 2016 and registered as a faith-based charitable company in November 2019.
We aim to spread the core values of the faith “I-Kuan (Tian) Dao” which is rooted in Chinese tradition and based on the teachings of Tao (Dao) and Confucius. The doctrines and the teachings emphasise values such as family, honour, respect and moderation, vegetarianism, self-discipline and high morals and ethics.
The trustees are responsible for the management of the organisation. The trustees are fully aware of the teachings of Dao and Confucius and I-Kuan Tao values when making decisions, and always keep in mind the objects of the Organisation when discuss and review which activities to be carried out by the organisation. The trustees and
All trustees give of their time freely and no trustee remuneration was paid in the year. The trustees are required to disclose all relevant interests and where necessary withdraw from decisions where a conflict arises.
Grant-making policy
The charity is mainly funded by donation, which is given by either bank online transfer or cash deposit of collection box. The charity is still at its initial years as it just starts up in the country and due to the difficult situation of Covid-19 pandemic since early 2020, the funding was primarily supported by the members of the overseas associated organisations and a few followers in the UK.
The trustees have taken the due diligence procedures seriously, an Anti-Money Laundering Policy is applied, which includes verifying the identity of donors before accepting any donations.
ACTIVITES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
a. Property extension and refurbishment
In 2019, the organisation was doing the extension and refurbishment of the property, which is planned to be used as an accommodation for religious workers and volunteers, and a small temple for worship. The project was completed by end of 2019, and a celebration gathering was hold on 9 February 2020. The donors from the overseas came to attend the celebration, in which they met several local people and shared their stories of testimony.

b. Prayer
The Charity provide access to worship service, through which the Charity will help nurture good citizens who in turn will be beneficial to a more tolerant society by instilling the core values of I- Kuan Dao.
c. Scriptures reading assembly
- Small group gathering for Dao scriptures readings is arranged on Sundays fortnightly. At the gatherings, people have an opportunity to discuss how to improve their lifestyle and spiritual quality from the holy teachings and share words of encouragement. Vegetarianism and the basic ethical and moral principle of family and social relations are the two core topics in the first few years, which help to build up a more harmonious environment and society.
d. Encourage volunteering
- Volunteering plays a very important part in our religious practice, which help to develop a selfless and merciful heart and strengthen a higher spiritual level with morals and ethics power. Therefore, we encourage all members of our religion to be involved in voluntary activities and to share their skills, experiences and testimonies of faith with others.
New friends are introduced by the trustees and in the neighbourhood, people are from various religious and cultural background, and they were also invited to the reading gatherings and the opening celebration. We have very positive feedback from them. Before, the Covid-19 Lockdown, they were willing to bring their friends and families to the temple. Many of them are learning to try vegetarian diet, and some of them have become vegans. A gentleman aged 60 was introduced to the temple after the first Lockdown finished. His wife and children left him during the first Lockdown, and he was seriously stroked by the shock and was mentally unstable. After learning the teachings, and regularly doing voluntary work at the temple, he’s having a more positive mindset, and becoming calmer and happier. An elderly Asian couples of the neighbourhood were so excited when they first met and have known that there is a holy place where they can worship and cultivate, which make them so happy.
Unfortunately, all the activities have been suspended since the first National Lockdown due to Covid-19. Since then, we use social media and telephony to reach people and do individual caring, especially to the elderly and those who are living alone.

Nan Ping Spiritual Cultivation Organisation of the UK Notes to the Accounts for the year ended 31 July 2020
1 Accounting policies
Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows:
Freehold buildings over 50 years Leasehold land and buildings over the lease term Plant and machinery over 5 years Fixtures, fittings, tools and equipment over 5 years
Investments
Investments in subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures are measured at cost less any accumulated impairment losses. Listed investments are measured at fair value. Unlisted investments are measured at fair value unless the value cannot be measured reliably, in which case they are measured at cost less any accumulated impairment losses. Changes in fair value are included in the profit and loss account.
Debtors
Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.
Creditors
Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method.
Provisions
Provisions (ie liabilities of uncertain timing or amount) are recognised when there is an obligation at the reporting date as a result of a past event, it is probable that economic benefit will be transferred to settle the obligation and the amount of the obligation can be estimated reliably.
Foreign currency translation
Transactions in foreign currencies are initially recognised at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of the transaction. At the end of each reporting period foreign currency monetary items are translated at the closing rate of exchange. Non-monetary items that are measured at historical cost are translated at the rate ruling at the date of the transaction. All differences are charged to profit or loss.
