On behalf of Viva Foundation, UK, it is the pleasure of the Trustees to submit the Annual Report and Financial Report for the period 1 November 2019 to 31 March 2022.
1. Establishment and Registration of the Viva Foundation UK as a Charity
Viva Foundation UK was established in May 2019 in London, UK and the application process to register as a Charity, was initiated.
The application to register, was approved and confirmed in November 2019 and the charity registered with the number: 1186373

3. Main Activities
The charity is a branch of the Viva Foundation with registered branches in South Africa [where the organisation was founded and registered in 2007] as The Viva Foundation of South Africa, in Germany as Viva Foundation e.V and in Brazil as Viva Foundation Brasil.
The registration application was approved in November 2019, only 3 months before the Covid19 Pandemic and the global lockdowns. As a result of the lockdown in the UK, the charity was unable to operate and could not open a bank account.

While operations continued in South Africa, Germany and Brazil, no activities could be carried out in the UK.
A donor in the UK, ‘Bushfire Ministries’ in Sheffield, donated funding for the Feeding Scheme in South Africa, via the PayPal account linked to the charity’s account in South Africa.
The trustees successfully requested a stay on reporting for the lockdown period, from the Charities Commission in the UK.
In December 2021, Viva Foundation UK was able to open a Business account with Wise, Business.
Activities of the Viva Foundation in South Africa and Brazil [no financial implication for Viva Foundation UK]
- a) Feeding Scheme:
- Lockdown measures affected underprivileged beneficiaries of the charity in South Africa, as schools closed and informally employed persons, were unable to earn an income. The Viva Disaster Management Initiative was launched in March 2020. From March 2020 to August 2021, the organsiation provided over 2 [two] million meals in the form of cooked meals, food parcels and grocery vouchers, distributed via 19 distribution points in the Tshwane- and Johannesburg Metropolitan Areas.
Viva Foundation Brasil, was registered as a charity in Brazil during lockdown and concentrated on providing meals and material support in the form of clothing, to extremely underprivileged families and children in Sao Paolo.
- b) School support included printing of school material and distributing it with food parcels to families. None of the Viva beneficiaries have access to online learning. When Independent and Private Schools were allowed to open during lockdown in South Africa, the Viva Independent Schools received learners in the Alaska Informal Settlement, Mamelodi East and Refilwe Township, Tshwane. Public schools in the areas only opened after lockdown measures were completely relaxed.
4. Financial Report
Due to the fact that the organisation was unable to open a bank account, and only managed to open a Wise Business Account in December 2021, no active fundraising took place.
