Due to the effects of the pandemic and associated restrictions on social distancing, we were still restricted for the first part of the year in terms of achieving our original aims in what is year two of our life as a charity. However, as restrictions eased, we were able to resume our regular programme of activities. Through grant funding, were we were able to increase our provision at additional community venues and delivered successful school holiday programmes. Throughout the year, we engaged 132 people from North Manchester in non-contact and contact boxing activities. Through our monitoring and evaluation, it is clear that these activities are having a positive impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of North Manchester residents.

## **Risk Review**

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed to via a ‘risk register’, in particular those relating to the operations and finances of the organisation, and are satisfied that procedures and systems are in place to mitigate the charity's exposure to risks.

## **Principal Funding Sources**

The main sources of income for the charity in the year are grants and commissions from the voluntary and public sector.

## **Financial Review**

This year the charity has increased income by 120% as compared with last year and significantly increased funding from all sources. The charity is in a good financial position with no debt and reasonable level of overheads.

## **Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held**

Of the £44,142 net surplus, £30,000 is committed funds based on grant funding that is to be spent by various deadlines in 2022. We have calculated that it costs £12k per year to sustain our core activities therefore the trustees have agreed that reserves should aim to be above this figure.

## INCOME & EXPENDITURE ACCOUNT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Charities Act”) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,

- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and

- state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:  to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and  to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
