THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COiNCIL OF THE PARISH OF ST AUGUSTINE TONGE MOOR & ST AIDAN HALL'I'TH'WOOD, BOLTON ANNUAL REPORT OF THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL For the year ending 31 st December 2023 Finan¢ial Reviei? 2023 The last re. years have not been easy: the rising Cost of goods affects the church in exactly the same way as il affects our households. One of our largest bills is the Parish Sharewhich we pay to the Diocese to allow them to provide priests to continue the work of the church. if none pays. or pays only a small amount, the Diocese cannot provide enoug,h priests and there may be too few, even if parishes share a priest. Sadly, despite every effort, we have only managed to pay 50 % of our Share of £40,875 in 2023. Your PCC have voled io work more closely with the Dioce5 by joining the Gift Aid Lite scheme. under which the Dioceses will help us to claim as much tax back as possible, and in exchange will keep these pa)'ments against our Parish Share. Please consider Gift Aiding any donations you make if you are a UK tax payer (and you MUST be a t&x payer to do this) as it will swell the value of your donalion at no additional cost to you- the government will pay us ihe value of the your donaiion would have raised for them. We thank sthff at Manchester Diocese for their help and the training ihey have freely provide There is, however, good ne's. Work io replace part of the healing system at St Augustine's was completed in 2023. As well as enjoying warnith during services, we can now prevent deierioration of our Grade 11 listed building and its conlents due to mould. We are very grate1 to the Listed Places of Worship scheme for making ihis w>ssible and hope for their continued support. During 2023. we reached our tsrgei for Teplacing furniture in Si Augustine's Parish Hall, and thanks to an excellenl Black Friday deal Spotted by Fr Tony. we have replaced we now have tables and chairs which are not only beautiful: bui are easy to move and to siore ensuring ihat our Hall is a flexible space to answer ihe needs of many more community groups. It is now in use throughout the week by dance classes, the Tonge & Haulgh Community choir and the Bolton Bus Preservation Society and many church gTOUPS, including our thriving Brownie group, Bible Study group, Coffee Shop and Mothers Union. We are proud to k able to host a Warn) Welcome Space in the Hall. The final phase of our ambilious plans for the Hall will require significant fundraising as we hope to improve our toilet facilities and most of all to create wheelchair and mobility friendly access. This fornis part of our Mission to allow everyone access with dignily to our worship and social spaces, and will make it possible to use our Hall in even more diverse and creative ways to serve our community. Our Parish Hall ai St Aidan"s continues lo be renled io the Little Angels Nursery, but we still have meetings available on the upper floor which are especially suitsbl¢ for meetings or &s offic¢s for starter businesses. If you are able lo support our mission with financial donalions. or donations of time and expertise, by recommending us for granis OT if you 'OUld kindly remember us hen TItIng your Will. please remember ihai Si Augustin¢ s is a registered charity: our charity numiKr appears on the front cover of this report.
