THE FRIENDS OF THE HOPE MINisfRY FOR WIDOWS AND ORPHANS CHARITY NUMBER 1186321 REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2025 We thank God on a daily basis for His goodness and mercy to the Hope Ministry throughout 2025. We thank all our supporters for their generous support, both financial and in terms of goods donated to be sent to Nigeria. This support is vital asthere is no social care system in Nigeria. As we expand and the demands on the ministry increase, we have been asking the Lord to show us the way forward, in supporting widows and orphans. Hope Ministry works in the central belt of Nigeria, particularly Plateau State and Benue State. The security Situation there continues to be extremely difficult due to attacks from the north of the country. often resulting in deaths. In early March 2025, the founder of the ministry visited Nigeria to work with the team there and encourage them. This helped her to see at first-hand the diff iculties being faced bythe staff. The main work of the Ministry is with widows and orphans. The micro financing scheme originally offered to widows, to start a business, has now become less attractive due to rising costs. Insurgency from the north of the country has meant that there are many internally displaced persons in the central belt. The ministry is providing support, by way of food parcels, to these people and, also, to the elderly and those with no family. Conferences for widows are held twice each year. The ladies are encouraged and empowered to run these workshops. This allows them to contribute to the work, having received help themselves. The work with orphans continues to support the children through school years. Those academically inclined go on to university. For those who prefer to go into work, training schemes are run in skills, such as, motor mechanics, computing, woodwork, needlework, etc. Other activities include making traditional seasonings from local beans. making paint, as there are no paint shops in Nigeria, and running recycling schemes for plastic materials. Conferences for the orphans are held twice yearly. These are very helpful in giving hope for the future and offering information on where to obtain advice. In between these events seminars are held where learning needs can be discussed.
