Warwickshlre Symphony Orchestra (CIO) Year Ended 31 July 2025 The Chair's Statement 2024-25 The 2024-25 season has been very memorable Musically. successful financially and with continued prog￿SS in developing the organisallon. Audience numbers continued to grow both concerts at All Salnts Church, Leamington Spa needing every available chair to be PLrt out. We have continued lo build our online presence through both developing our website and the us8 of 50ci8l media. We have engaged a professional designerwhose first effort has been to redesign our brochure. There have been challenges arising from continued limited access to our traditional rehearsal v8nue, leading to some rehearsals having to be elsewhere. We were saddened by the loss dunng the year of our percusslonists, Huw Thomas and Seb F8rrall. They will bo greatly missed. For our flrst concert, we welcomed th8 17 year old prodigy. Ryan Martln Bradshaw. HIS perfomianca of Rachmaninov's 2ThY piano concerto was one of th8 highlights of the season. As one revlewer wrote. °Warwiek Hall's Steinway has seldom witnessed such an attentlV8 pianist with a bewitching touch." The concert was opened by Kodaly's Dances of Galanta and finished wlth Sib81ius' symphony no 2. The concert was generously sponsored by Slr John and Lady Egan. Our family concert was again led by our assoclate conductor, Paul Leddington Wright, The theme was the Magic of Animals. with the c8ntre piece being Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf narrated by DavKI Bradley. The concert was very much enjoyed by all from young children lo parents and grandparents. Our spring concert was on th8 theme of dance, wlth four very contrasting pieces, Strau¥s's Thunder and Lightning polka, Copland's Rodeo SuSt8, Spartacus Suite no. 2 by Kha¢haturian and TGhaikovsky's Swan Lake Suite. Th6 concert was very much appr8dat8d by a packed house. For our final concert the centreplec8 was Mahler's formldable symphony no. 5. Th18 required 8$sembling a very large orchestra of 91 players, includlng six horns, three bassoons and a large p8r¢u$sion sectlon. The orchestra ro88 lo the challenge and one crlliG wrote, 'This mammoth performance is one of the hlghllghts of the orchestra so far." The symphony was preceded by Mussorgsky's Nlght on a Bare ￿ntaIn, and Salnt-saens, Danse Macabre. We are very grateful for the continued leadership of our conductor, Roger Coull, and our leader, George Ewart. who have led the orch8slra lo high standards and to master challenging pieces. Our o)ncerts have been ch8racterised by some outstanding playing in every concert. As w811 as our regular concerts, a reduced orchestra played for the Chades Vllll8rs Stanford Orchestr81 Evensong in Cov&nlry Cathedral. A Play Day was held al King H8nry Vlll School In Coventy where Roger Coull 18d us through Vaughan Vvilliams. symphony no S. The Play Day provlded the opportunlty for social interaction among the memb8r5 of the orchestra, and was thoroughly gnloyed by everyone. We held our annual orchestra dinner in Kenilworth In March which provide another enjoyable opportunity for m8mb8rs of the orchestra to interact. Flnally, the continued development of the orchestra has teen led by a dedicated group of Tiuslees, suppDrt8d by volunteers and members of the orchestra. Without Ihelr continued hard work we would not have been able to continue to develop the orchestra and address the challenges facing us. Chrls Voss. Chalr

Warwlckshire Symphony Orchestra (CIO) Year Ended 31 July 2025 The Treasurer's Report 2024-25 The financial statements show the financial performance of the orchestra for the year ended 31 July 2025 and the financlal pos((ion as at that date. The overall financlal performance ha5 resulted in a total surplus (net income) for the year of £8.315 {2023-24 £5.037}. Thi5 has increased the general unrestrlcted funds of tho orchestra by £8,224, with interest Snix)m8 of £91 all￿ated to the designated Malcolm Rowson lund. The funds of the orchestra at 31 July 2025 totsl £64,495, and are represented by cash balances and the only tangible asset of the orchestra, a sel of timpani and trailer. Financially, 2024-25 has been a highly $ucce$s*Jl year for the orchestra. The maln contributory tsctor has been thé large 33Vo increase in totsl lickel sales for our concerts ov6r Ihe season, to which the Chairfs Statement refers. The increase in sales is mainly through the medlum of Ihe orch88tra's and venue's websites, reflecting how consumers tend to purchase thelr enlertalnment in th& 21 century. However. orchestra members also played thelr part by encouraglng frlends. f8mlly 8nd Colleagues to buy tickets to attend the concerts. There was also addition81 irscome from very generous donations and sponsorshlp of £4,400. Thanks are due to all donors and Sponsors. The dlracl costs of putting on our concerts remained similar to the previous $8ason. Th8se costs can vary from year lo year depending on the programmes perfomied. So, although th8 hir8 of concert venues and paym8nls lo professional musicians rose in 2024-25, we engaged fewer soloists. W8 were thgrofor8 able to hold a 5uccessftJl Play Day in April, and Cary out seTviclng of the orchestra's tlmpanl, expenses for which are induded in Ihe general support Costs. The other maln increase In costs was from hiring rehearsal venues, reflecting the dlfficulties In firKllng a pemianent r8h8arsal home due to Ihe ongoing RA4C issues al Myton School. To conclude this report, thanks should be glven to all those who have given thelr lime in assisling In the running of tha orchestra's activities and who have had a posits've Impact on Inancial matters. This indudes those involved in publicity, managing the orchestra's w&bsite, social media and ticket and programme sales both before and al concerts. Jenny Maynard, Troa8ur•r
