Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
During the period of this Report, the Trustees agreed to provide a financial grant to two organisations which work directly to support stroke survivors and their families. The main cash grant was made to ‘The Stroke Association’. This is a well established UK charity with a track-record of providing valuable assistance to stroke survivors and their families. A further cash grant was provided to The Shoreditch Trust which is a charity working with over 50s stroke survivors in East London. Funds were used to assist with the provision of Christmas meals. In addition, during the period the Trustees approved a cash payment to Unhidden Clothing which is an organisation who make clothing for people with disabilities and were partners in a Style for Stroke’s clothing fundraising campaign. Finally, a cash payment was made to a charity called The Melissa Bell Foundation. The Trustees approved this payment to ensure that this organisation benefited equally from theproceeds raised from The Spring Ball 2022. |

| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | During the period of this Report, the charity has succeeded in raising sufficient funds to make possible two cash donations to charities which work directly to support stroke survivors. The main cash donation was made to ‘The Stroke Association’. This charity has been identified by the Trustees as bringing particular benefit to stroke survivors. A further cash grant was provided to The Shoreditch Trust which is a charity working with over 50s stroke survivors in East London. Funds were used to assist with the provision of Christmas meals. By supporting the organisations identified above, the Trustees believe this makes a significant difference to stroke survivors and that this in turn satisfies the core purpose of the charity. In the period since 01 April 2023 the Foundation has continued to support charities working with stroke survivors and their families with further grants. The most recent grants were made in 2023. The Foundation expects to continue providing cash grants during 2024 once additional funds are raised from cash donations. |

Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 The charity has a positive cash balance and no
financial position at the end liabilities at the end of the period.
of the period
The Foundation’s core income during the
period of this Report originated with a charity
fundraising event held in London, ‘The Spring
Ball 2022’.
An additional source of income in 2022/23
was bespoke clothing sales. Other smaller
cash donations were received via Just Giving,
and Amazon Smile.
The primary source of the Foundation’s
income will continue to be to fundraising
events, such as the very popular ‘The Spring
Ball’. Regrettably no such events took place in
2023. The next one is due to be held in Spring
of 2024.
The only expenditure of note was (a) the
monthly subscription to JustGiving (cancelled
part way through the period); and (b) the
Trustees agreed that a Trustee should be
reimbursed for permitted expenditure
incurred on behalf of the charity.
