The charity focuses on rehabilitating animals and, where possible, releasing them back into the wild, supporting conservation, biodiversity, and animal welfare. ## **Wildlife Admissions and Rehabilitation** During the 2024–2025 reporting period, Mansfield Wildlife Rescue experienced a significant increase in demand for its services. Wildlife admissions increased by approximately 30% compared to the previous year. Birds continued to make up the majority of admissions, alongside mammals and other native wildlife species. Despite increased caseloads and operational pressures, the charity maintained strong welfare outcomes. Overall, approximately 75% of admissions were successfully rehabilitated and released back into the wild. Decisions for animals that could not be released were made based on welfare considerations and veterinary advice. Mansfield Wildlife Rescue Registered Charity 1186301 ## **Facilities Expansion and Habitat Improvement** During the year, Mansfield Wildlife Rescue expanded its facilities, increasing capacity to care for a greater number and wider range of wildlife admissions. Significant woodland management and improvement works were carried out on site. A pond was created which is now thriving with aquatic life and actively attracting wildlife into the woodland. These improvements have enhanced biodiversity and support both rehabilitation and conservation objectives. ## **Community Engagement, Education and Wellbeing** The charity continued to strengthen its role within the community throughout the year. An increasing number of students from various colleges joined Mansfield Wildlife Rescue for work experience placements, gaining practical skills, confidence, and experience in wildlife care and conservation. The charity also worked closely with disabled support services and mental health providers and has become a valued placement for both adults and children with health, mental health, and additional support needs. These placements provide meaningful engagement and wellbeing benefits while supporting the charity’s activities. ## **Fundraising and Financial Sustainability** A major focus for the charity during the year was fundraising and increasing voluntary donations to support long-term sustainability. The trustees are pleased to report that significant progress was made towards raising funds to enable the purchase of the land currently leased by Mansfield Wildlife Rescue. Through donations, fundraising activities, and community support, almost all of the funds required for the purchase were successfully raised. At the time of writing this report, the charity was close to signing contracts and completing the purchase. Completion of the purchase and the associated financial impact will be reflected in the accounts and Trustees’ Report for the following financial year. ## **Community Support** The charity continued to benefit from strong public and community support throughout the year. Donations, volunteer involvement, and local goodwill played a vital role in enabling Mansfield Wildlife Rescue to continue operating during a period of rising costs and increased demand. The trustees wish to record their sincere thanks to all volunteers, donors, and supporters whose commitment and generosity make the charity’s work possible. Mansfield Wildlife Rescue provides public benefit through the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured and orphaned wildlife, contributing to conservation and biodiversity. The charity also benefits the wider public through education, volunteering, and supported placement opportunities that promote wellbeing, skills development, and responsible engagement with wildlife. ## **Future Plans and Fundraising Narrative** In the coming year, the trustees aim to build on the progress made during 2024–2025 by strengthening financial sustainability, expanding community engagement, and securing the long-term future of the charity. Fundraising will remain a key priority to support core wildlife rescue activities, rising veterinary costs, and ongoing site development. The charity plans to engage with a wider range of community groups and organisations to increase awareness and support. The trustees also intend to fully open and operate the onsite community café during the next financial year. This will provide a welcoming space for visitors and placement groups and generate an additional income stream to support charitable activities.
