## **FUTUREHOPE HERTFORD AND WARE** ## **TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT FROM 1[st] JANUARY TO 31[ST] DECEMBER 2021** ## **CHARTITY REGISTRATION NUMBER: 1186296** _Note: The charity operated under a different name (‘FUTUREHOPE’) until the 18[th] May 2021 when the name was changed to the above._ ## **Trustees** David Abbott Ian Tyler Mathew Barber ## **Objectives and Activities** The charitable objects for the charity is ‘to provide an effective and accessible mentoring service to young people between the ages of 11 and 18 inclusive in Hertfordshire in order to reduce anti-social behaviour, social exclusion and criminal offending, so as to advance their education and development to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.’ The main activities of the charity are based in Hertford and Ware through the following programmes: - One-to-one mentoring: meeting local young people for an hour a week, every week, for a year. - Schools’ work: running educational sessions and/or group work sessions within the school setting. - Outreach work: mobile youth centre, drop-in youth club out in the community and also detached work, walking around meeting young people where they are. - Parents courses: running parent courses based on Care For The Family’s Time Out For Parents courses. ## **Achievements and Performance** This period proved to be a busy time for the team and the trustees would like to express their thanks to the team for all the work they have done. The charity was pleasantly surprised to have an offer from Hertford Youth Club (charity number 1173953) of the Pioneer Hall and its assets as it looked to dissolve itself. This was an ongoing process through this year. The charity continued to be present in schools, both for mentoring but also group work around mental health awareness. Mentoring also happened after school and in the community. The charity are keen to expand their mentoring work into more of the local schools as the results clearly show how much the young people benefit from the input of a mentor. Parent courses continued to take place, some in-person and some on zoom. The charity was excited to be able to run some volunteer training for new volunteers wanting to get involved. The charity is looking to expand this work by offering oneoff ad-hoc events for parents to get together and provide mutual support. After successful fundraising and a grant from the National Lottery the charity was able to purchase, refurbish and launch a new mobile youth centre. The young people in the local community have responded very positively about the mobile youth centre’s presence; it has been seen out on Friday nights, community events and in schools for lunch time sessions. ## **Financial Review** The income and expenditure was as planned for this year. The charity anticipated larger expenditure for the new mobile youth centre, but with the fundraising, grants and the additional fundraising from last year, these costs were met with ease. The main revenue of income continues to be local people and local churches and the charity continues to be grateful for their support in its work. The charity currently have just under 4 months of reserves; the charity trustees were aiming for 6 months and this will continue to be the target. ## **Public Benefit** In planning its activities, the Trustees have given regard to the Charity Commission’s Public Benefit guidance. **----- Start of picture text -----**
