Para 1.17 | To promote equality and diversity for the public benefit and in particular the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity, including in particular but not exclusively by: (1) Raising the awareness of the pubic with regard to all aspects of discrimination in society and issues and difficulties affecting the Live of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) People; (2) Cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity in particular through celebrating the achievements of LGBT people and the diversity of the LGBT community; (3) Advancing education and raising awareness in the equality and diversity whether by Teaching, Interaction, performance or producing and/or displaying artistic and other materials; (4) Producing publications, lecture, media, promoting public events and exhibitions, public advocacy and other means of communication; (5) Associating with voluntary organisations and/or governmental, public and private bodies to develop and maximise the effectiveness of voluntary organisations run by and for LGBT people; (6) Staging and promoting LGBT events and in particular and annual LGBT festival; (7) Promoting and providing resources where necessary for providing equality of access for members of the LGBT community to sports, training, employment, business or similar opportunities, where there are barriers to equal access for the time being; (8) Promoting activities to foster the understanding between people form diverse backgrounds; (9) Conducting or commissioning research on equality and diversity issues and publishing the results to the public. Achievements and Performance

Para 1.20 | Newbury Pride is a registered charity, founded in 2019 to support the LGBTQ+ community in Newbury and West Berkshire. Our showcase event is our annual summer Pride in Victoria Park, where thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and their friends, families, and allies can celebrate in a loving and supportive environment. 100% volunteer-led, we’re committed to a world free of hate, prejudice and discrimination. Our last Newbury Pride was a successful and joyous event. We had an incredible turnout of adults, teenagers, and families with children. Nearly 4,000 people attended Newbury Pride in 2025 (approximately the same attendance as 2024, and up considerably from the c.2,500 who came in 2023). With a march through the centre of town, followed by live entertainment and a market of over 40+ local vendors and community groups, it was a fun, safe, and educational day for everyone. For the first time in 2025 we were also able to offer a second "community" stage, with a full afternoon programme of music, poetry, and spoken performances showcasing the best of local talent. We were also proud to offer British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation across our main stage for the first time. We would like to build on these refinements to the event in the future. |

However the charity’s financial position remains secure, with strong fundraising activity of c.£27,141 across the period, and healthy reserves. |

Whilst the Trustees’ Report and associated data was prepared well in advance of the deadline, we faced an unexpected delay in having our accounts independently examined by our accountancy firm. This was most regrettable and steps will be taken to ensure it does not recur. |
