## Report of the Trustees 6[th] April 2022 to year ending 5[th] April 2023 

The trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year ending 5[th] April 2023. 

## Structure Governance and management. 

The Pete Handley Percussion Award was established as an independent charity on 19[th] November 2019. It is structured as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. 

We appointed three trustees.

Nb. Trustees are re-elected for a three-year term. 

Lester Handley – A retired Civil Engineer and the father of the late Pete Handley. 

Jackie Kendle – A professional percussionist and a specialist in music education. 

Charlotte Harding – Musician and established composer. 



## Objectives and achievements. 

Our aims for 22/23 were to reach out through the network of music teachers to encourage them to approach us where they identify developing musical talent and financial need then we can commence granting awards under the terms of the constitution. While this aim is correct, we have struggled to achieve that this year. As we go forward, we intend to use social media more to reach out to the needy. The pandemic has abated and the public are now cautiously venturing out and therefore fund-raising concerts are becoming more viable. However, the current economic crisis in the country has resulted in the public having less disposable income to support charities. 

In the year we have had three requests which resulted in two grants being awarded. 

Grants were awarded to assist: - 

- One students’ attendance at a specialise music summer school. 

- Contribution towards a marimba purchase 

Our PHPA Adams xylophone and the vibraphone remain fully committed to free loans to music students to enable them to reinforce and extend their learning at home. 

We were supported by Wells Cathedral School who organised a fund-raising concert for the charity with our charities Principal Artistic Supporter percussion  soloist Dame Evelyn Glennie in attendance.
