Report of the Trustees 7th November 2019 to year ending 5 th April 2021

The trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year ending 5[th] April 2021.

Structure Governance and management.

The Pete Handley Percussion Award was originally established under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund as the registered charity in 2015. After a few years it became apparent that the size fit resulted in “large charity” fees and charges being levied against our small charity which were untenable. We agreed to part company and set about establishing the Pete Handley Percussion Award as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which we achieved in November 2019.

We appointed three trustees Lester Handley. Jackie Kendle nee Brewer and Charlotte Harding.

Lester Handley – A retired Civil Engineer and the father of the late Pete Handley. Jackie Kendle – A professional percussionist and a specialist in music education. Charlotte Harding – Musician and established composer.

Objectives and achievements.

Our aims for 20/21 were to set up the charity and relaunch it as a fund raising entity. We established our bank account and transferred in the remaining funds from Prism the Gift Fund.

Website domains were purchased and we designed and build our website. The website was designed to facilitate three income streams.

We recruited Artistic Supporters from the music industry to help promote the charity objectives. We are delighted to have Dame Evelyn Glennie as our most renowned artistic supporter.

We launched the website and received an initial tranche of donations in response. However the pandemic swept across the world and musicians found themselves largely silenced and confined to online performances and tuition. The initial launch resulted in donations which helped increase our bank balance by £1573.11 creating a running total of £4952.84 ready to make awards as soon as the pandemic receded.
