**quickly established itself as a major**
**grassroots football club in Sefton,**
**Merseyside, and gone through a period**
**of very rapid growth.**
**In the face of greatly reduced provision**
**by another local Formby-based**
**grassroots club, FCFC has filled a**
**significant and growing demand for**
**youth football in particular, and recently**
**been able to offer regular training and**
**competitive games for an over 40s**
**men’s walking football team. In the next**
**year, we will also be exploring interest**
**in a women’s over 40s /adult walking**
**football team.**
**As of March 2021 we had over 400 paid-**
**up club members 20 regular teams. We**
**have seen our young players thrive**
**through playing regular football, and the**
**physical and mental benefits of physical**
**exercise and team activities are already**
**well documented. It has been**
**particularly gratifying for trustees and**
**committee members to see both our**
**young people and our volunteers thrive**
**as they become more embedded in the**
**Club.**
**We have engaged well with Liverpool**
**County FA, and already been successful**
**in securing our Standard Charter**
**affiliation as well as several small grants**
**from the Football Foundation to put on**
**dedicated sessions for young girls and**
**boys.**
**Although a huge challenge for both**
**individuals and families, the arrival of**
**the Covid-19 pandemic presented the**
**Club with a great opportunity to give**
**back to the local community. Plans are**
**still in an early stage as lockdown is**
**being put in place across England, but**
**already an impressive number of club**

We are focussing on the elderly, longterm sick, and people living in isolation, and putting together support which includes doing people’s weekly shopping for them and delivering it, collecting and delivering prescriptions, and carrying out errands for people unable to leave their homes.
