## **Trustees Annual report 2020**

The **trustees** are Mrs Helen Berry, Rev. David Coleman, Mr Colin Dring, Mr John Whitfield.

Mr Dring acts as Hon. **Secretary** and Mr Whitfield is the Hon, **Treasurer**

**The correspondence address is** c/o Landfall, Umberleigh, Devon EX37 9DA

**The object of the CIO** is the advancement of the Christian religion by providing funds to assist with the insurance, restoration, repair, improvement and beautification of St. Hieritha's Church, Chittlehampton, Devon and helping to provide additional facilities and contributing towards the cost of maintaining the ministry at the church and day-to-day costs incidental thereto for and on behalf of the parochial church council of St Hieritha's church.

COVID restrictions have meant that apart from an initial meeting the trustees have been unable to have face-to-face **meetings** but have regularly communicated electronically. All decisions of the trustees have been unanimously agreed by the trustees, after full discussions.

Normally the financial year of the charity would run from January 1[st] – December 31[st] , but this year, due to the date of registration of the charity being November 6[th] 2019 they include the last 2 months of that year as well as the 12 months of 2020.

A copy of the **receipts and payment accounts** (CC16a) for this extended period is enclosed with this report. The accounts have been **independently examined** and approved by Mr J.M. Braid, West Stowford, Chittlehampton EX37 9OX. No material adverse matters were noted in his report dated May 8. 2021.

The **charity's income** is from three main sources: (a) Rental payments for a cottage owned by the trustees, (b) Dividends earned by investments in M and G Charifunds and COIF shares (c) donations from the organisers of a Local Authority registered '100 club' (Help Hieritha) whose donations are restricted to help keep the building in good repair. The total income from these sources (together with a small amount of bank interest) totalled **£16,164.**

The Charity's expenditure on meeting its **Charitable Aims** totalled **£20,038** which breaks down into the following donations/grants made to the PCC:

- Insurance of the church buildings £6,148

- Church heater replacement £3,452

- Church roof repairs £10,000

- maintaining church services £348

In addition the **Cost of maintaining Charity was £972:** comprising cost of insurance, maintenance of the cottage and obtaining statutory certificates.

None of the trustees received payments or claimed expenses during the year neither were there any fund-raisers or employees .

The trustees regularly review the income/expenditure of the charity and are satisfied that the charities aims are fully met and that the funds held in reserve will enable it to help fund any reasonable requests made by the PCC in their aim to keep the medieval building in good repair for the benefit of its congregation and the poulation at large.

Rev. David Coleman

Colin Dring
