REN Intl also launched their first ever fundraising drive and constructed a borehole to supply clean water for the children and the surrounding community of Koch Lii. 2017 REN Intl expanded temporary classrooms which provided space for Primary 5 and overall school attendance was 180 children, half of these were girls. In 2018 REN Intl invested in a brick making project to enable us to construct permanent classrooms for the children and minimising expenditure at the same time. We produced 40,000 bricks that were used to construct a classroom block for Primary 6, Primary 7 and an office block. The physical labour cost of doing so was also supplemented by the parents offering their availability to carry out some work at school. By the end of 2018 the number of children registered had risen to 250 pupils. In 2019 REN Intl again invested in a brick making project which produced 30,000 bricks. These bricks were essential in constructing permanent classroom blocks for Primary 1, 2, 3, 4 and a block of classrooms for the Nursery Children (K1 to K3). Willow School children sat their first Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) 19 children were registered for this national exams). The school had over 350 children registered. The effect of Covid 19 interruption from 2020 to 2021 had a lasting impact which are still being felt today. But we are grateful that we were able to take lots of learning opportunities. From 2022 to 2025, our focused has been on project sustainability, teaching and learning and children’s progress and children’s behaviour, Child Protection and Parents Teachers Association and

School Management Committee.

In 2022, 2023 2024, we focused on project sustainability - our children have been involved in the school farm. They planted crops such as maize beans and other vegetable which have been consumed by the children and staff.

Regarding teaching and learning our focus has been on teacher training for teaching and behaviour management, curriculum understanding and curriculum delivery.

The children have also started home management activities such as baking and financial literacy.

We have conducted several meetings and training on behaviour management with teachers and among children themselves.

Section D                      Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main** This year we were able to use our school library after many years **achievements of the charity during the year** of using the library as a school dormitory. We have been able to provide school meals to feed all our children (375) because of the success of the school farm. We produced beans, maize and vegetables which supplemented the children and staff diet. As a result of providing school meals, we have been able to provide extra lesson for children in the lower class. We have focused reading and writing in the early years and foundation stage and early key stage 1. We have recruited a few graduates who been a fantastic addition to all the other qualified Teachers. We have conducted a benchmark for reading and writing and we cannot wait to see the results after extra support we have put in place. This is our target; with the team work we have, nothing is impossible.

The School bought more furniture for sitting for the pupils even though we still need more desks.

## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

REN Intl does not have any policy on financial reserves because we don’t have any financial reserve.

## **Details of any funds materially in deficit**

## **Further financial review details (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about:

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising);

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity;

- investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.

Against the backdrop of limited resources and insecurities over funding, it has continued to be difficult to plan or develop services on a long term base. Nevertheless the charity, with the aid of sound financial management, the generous supporters through monthly standing order donations have enabled REN Intl to continue its fundamental work in ensuring the vulnerable children of rural Northern Uganda receive an education. Standing orders remain our principle funding source.

Our main focus has been on meeting the aims and objectives of the charity - ensuring the overall running cost were met including payment of teachers’ wages each month.
