Rainbow Slars Disabilty Gr(xp Sleaford is constituted as a Charitable InccKporated
Organisation registered with the Charity Commission in November 2019 under tharity
number 1186118. It is goverr￿d by a ￿nStItUtion.
Organisalional Structure
The six charity trustees are responsble for the general control arKI management of the
charity. The trustees give ttw time freely arxl receive rK) remur￿rat10n or other financial
benefits.

The existing trustees are respons￿ for the re(¥uitmert of trustees. In selecting new
trustees, we seek to Klentrfy people who regularly atteThJ events and fijndions organised
by the charity. Potential trustees are invtied to attend trustees. meetings as observers and
are given more details of the Charit￿S aims and activtties and, rf all agree, they are then
proposed as new trustees at the subsequent trustees. meeting. This pr￿sS allows due
consideration of the person's eligibilty. personal comp*rK£, specialist knowledge and
skills.
Risk Managemont
The trustees have assessed risks the charity fa￿S ￿ have drawn up a risk matrix
which identifies the major risks by area of activty, the nature of those risks, Ihe likelihood
of the risks happening arKI the measures taken to m￿age them. The trustees review this
risk matrix regularly at their meetings. The trustees are satisfied that systems are in place.
or arrangements are in haKI, to manage the risks that have been identified.
In particular, finar￿S of the chaiity are kept urKler review and a reserve equal to a
minimum of six months hub funning costs is kept. Regular attempts to recruit volunteers
are made in COniLmfAion with the I(￿1 volunteer bureau. Appropriate Disdosure and
Ba￿Ing Service (DBS) checks. supported by regularly reviewed policies, are made for all
those who volunteer with chitdren or vulnerable adults within the hub. Also, all activities
are staffed by at least two volunteers
Objectlves and Actlvltles
OurAims
To provide relief for parents. careers and families of children living with autism and
associated problems living in Ltncolnshire, through advi￿, advocacy, and practical
support. To relieve the need of chiklren with autism spectrum disorders and those family
members who care for such children living in Lincolnshire, through the provision of
recreatior￿1 and leisure time artivities.
Use of Volunteers
Volunteers are an extremely impcxtant resource arKI 811 our events are entirely volunteer
run. We utilise the serrfices of up to 15 volunteers over the course of a week running
various sessions and events at our hub. Volunteers are also active on the charty's social
media accounts. promotirKJ the chaiity aloroside answemg questions signposting
people on the Facebook groL41. All volunteers working at our hub are DSB thecked and
are aware of safeguarding procedures.

Activities and Achievements
How our Activitses Deliver P￿)r￿ Be￿fft
The charity carr￿S out a wide range of activities in pursuatt of its tharitable aims. Wien
planning and carrying out these actrvities the TTUStees have kept n mirKI ts Commission's
guidan￿ on public b￿th.
In line with many organisatx)ns of our activities were ￿rtailed from mid March 2020
through until the erKI of the year due to the various restrtctions arKJ lock downs imposed
due to the global Covid 19 parKlanio Below is a summary of some of our activty.
On-line
Rainbow Stars was set up in 2014 as a Facebook based support group and this continues
to this day, with well over 1000 members on the group. The group is a safe Spa￿ for
people to ask for. receive. advi￿ regarding all manner of issues from other disabled
people or parentslcarers. It is also a platfomi for the charity to advertise the hub and the
many events that are hosted there and elsewhere. There a￿ rn￿y interactiorE on a daily
basis.
￿￿hlIst people were Unab￿ to meet up in person. weekly catch w)Iwelfare meetings were
held over Zoom so thal social contact coukt ba maintained.
Hub
We officialty ¢¥ened ujr Disability Hub in Sle8ford on 2 November 2019.
The hub is open in the day for people to thop in for a 'coffee and a d￿. Wednesday is
paperwork day, where volunteers are able to help with benefrt claims and Education Health
and Care Plan paperwork Thursday is Home Ed day where off-rolled children can come
together to complete their work and to socialise. A number of sessions are run in the
evenings so that chitdren who are in school can attend. These indude 'Manic Mondays,
which is run by male volunteers and ￿ntss mainty around gaming, 'Siblings' which is a
session for siblirKJs and young (3rers and Teen arKI Adult nights for our older users, where
they are able to have more of a say about the activities on offer.
Due to lock down, the tKkn was forwl to close for approximately 3 months and on
reopening we had UV air cleaning lohts fitted in the main spaces. At the time of writing we
hav8 had no positive COVKY cases IK*ed to the hub.
Soft Play
Pre Covid we held a monthly SurKlay moming get togetrEr at a local soft play venue
regularly attended by 20+ children arKI their families. These fiist started back in 2014 and
the last of these occwred in March 2020 before the first lock down.
Training
A level 1 Makaton c(xwse was hekL A level 2 c(xKse was boc*ed tyjt this had to be

postponed to 2021 due to the se(XXKJ lod( drTwn. This was heavity subsided for parents
and carers. These courses alknw pa￿ts and carers to communicate with Makaton users.
Events
Many of plarKwJ eV￿rtS in 2020 were (Mtailed by the Covid 19 pandemio Theses
included Easter ￿ Xmas craft fairs as well as a Summer Fun FesL
HoNever between November 2019 ar)d March 2020 we held a number of events for our
users and their families including ten pin b(ywling. birw sessions, a Xmas paty and visit
from Santa. a trip to a trdmpoline park, a pamper night and an exotic animal experien￿.
We also managed to frt in a trip to a local wiidlrfe park in between locJ(downs in September.
Awards arKI Recognilion
Rainbow Stars was re￿gnised by the cxjmmunty winnK￿ two awards durir¥J 2020. They
were the winners of the North Kesteven District Council Communty Champions Awards in
the Contribution to Health and ￿11 Being category and Sleaford Town Council Mayorfs
Special Award.
Flnanclal Revlv
In spite of the Covid 19 pandemiq which effectively ujrtailed much of our activty for the
majority of 2020 at the end of the period funds had increased from to £14,132 to £29,010.
Resorves Pollcy
The trustees have revEwed Iho reserves of the charity. Their policy is to trKAd enough
funds to meet six monlhs. gross operating costs of the hth). This is thougm to be
approximatety £8.IXK) in a 'normal' year.
Principal Fundlng Sources
The principal source of fLmds thring the year were donations from grant a*Yardiro bodies
and the community. the largest of which was a Covid Grant awarded by the National
Lottery to cover missed fLndraising opportuntties ruming costs. Along wrth many
other charities and organisations our furKltaising events ￿tre severely curtailed beiween
March and December 2020 however we were suc￿Ssful in raising furKls from other
community based arKI grant awarding sources.
Investment Policy and Objeclives
The charity has rK) lowerm inveslments. Our cash reserves are held in deposit accounts.
Plans for future periods
Due to the majortty of our first y&qr being affected by global Covid pandemic we need
to consolidate our position. ￿ viill. however. PLThR furKling opportunities to enable the
charity to install a sens(xy nx>ffl in our hub.
