March **2012** **TAR** 2 The CIO’s purpose is for the benefit of its members and public in general. It aims to benefit the whole community and allow members and nonmembers to use our facilities. It recognises the guidance issued by the Charity Commission with regard to statutory declaration and follows its guide lines as closely as possible and in particular, with it being a sports club, those on the advancement of health, citizenship & community development, amateur sport, human rights and the promotion of racial harmony, equality and diversity. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** The CIO operates as a multi-disciplined sports club and allows members of the wider community to join the club and take part in the sports on offer. The club currently has a diverse range of members from all races and religions and of varying ages. The CIO provides cricket coaching for girls and boys aged 5-8 years old to support the new ECB ‘All Stars’ initiative for getting juniors involved in the game at an early age. All are welcome to come to junior and senior cricket coaching/training sessions. There is a progression path to playing league cricket for juniors at u11, u13, u15 and u17 ages and for two senior sides in the Derbyshire League. All members of the public are also welcome to join the bowls section where the sport is played recreationally. As well as providing facilities for its members and the community to become involved in these sports for health, fitness and general recreation it also provides space for the fellowship of Members to socialise, including the elders who have retired from playing bowls. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. March **2012** **TAR** 3 Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** - The club paid their annual rent of £2500 due on March 31[st] 2024 to the Derby Methodist Circuit. - • The major upgrade of the cricket changing rooms was started. Complete Property Maintenance were employed as contractors to carry out the work. - • A defibrillator was positioned on the outside of the tea room and installed in a Rotaid 247 carrier. This carrier monitors the defibrillator and notifies authorised responders any activities which affect it. - • The tea pavilion was successfully used as a polling station for the General Election and for the Police Commission=er/Regional Mayor elections. - • The Bowls section hold whist afternoons during the winter months. - • The cricket section enjoyed a good season in so much as the 1[st] XI came 3[rd] in their Division of the County League for the second year running and the 2[nd] XI were promoted. The Junior Section continues to expand in so much as a girls u11 softball team was entered into the league. One of the girls was selected for the Derbyshire County Cricket Academy/ Steve Glover, the junior cricket co-ordinator, received a lifetime achievement award from the DCF for his services to coaching juniors. The u15 junior side were league champions and also won the u15 cup whilst the u17s were cup finalists. - £113 was raised from cricketers for charity during the week of August 3[rd] -10[th] . This was in memory of our former player David Webb. The proceeds were donated to the charity MIND. - • Derbyshire Cricket Federation held a coaching week on the cricket field for juniors during the school summer holidays which was well attended by children from the local area. - The club continue to provide and maintain cricket pitches for local community teams who also use the clubs other facilities, March **2012** **TAR** 4 ## **Section E Financial review** See Section F below. **Brief statement of the** **charity’s policy on reserves** **Details of any funds materially** No funds in deficit. **in deficit** ## **Further financial review details (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about: - the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising); - how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; - investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted. ## **Section F Other optional information** The driving force for fund raising to date has been to build new or upgraded cricket changing rooms,. As such, the CIO has been operating with a separate development account as well as a general day to day account. The club changed its accounts during the year such that all accounts are with the NatWest Bank. So we now have two overall Sports Club accounts ie, a Business Reserve Account and a Business Current Account. We have also added a Business Current Account for the Bowls Section to enable them to deal with their section finances during the playing season.
