The promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of cricket, crown green bowls and tennis.

The CIO’s purpose is for the benefit of its members and public in general.

It aims to benefit the whole community and allow members and nonmembers to use our facilities. 

It recognises the guidance issued by the Charity Commission with regard to statutory declaration and follows its guide lines as closely as possible and in particular, with it being a sports club, those on the advancement of health, citizenship & community development, amateur sport, human rights and the promotion of racial harmony, equality and diversity.

The CIO operates as a multi-disciplined sports club and allows members of the wider community to join the club and take part in the sports on offer. The club currently has a diverse range of members from all races and religions and of varying ages. 

The CIO provides cricket coaching for girls and boys aged 5-8 years old to support the new ECB ‘All Stars’ initiative for getting juniors involved in the game at an early age. All are welcome to come to junior and senior cricket coaching/training sessions. There is a progression path to playing league cricket for juniors at u11, u13, u15 and u17 ages and for two senior sides in the Derbyshire League. 

All members of the public are welcome to join the bowls and tennis sections where both sports are played recreationally. 

As well as providing facilities for its members and the community to become involved in the three sports for health, fitness and general recreation it also provides space for the fellowship of Members to socialise, including the elders who have retired from playing bowls.

Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

||The club having acquired a lease for 25 years in 2020 paid their<br>first annual rent of £2500 on March 31st2022. The Derby|

||Methodist Circuit allowed a two year waver before the initial|
||payment was made.|
||Club Mark was achieved for the Cricket Section. This prestigious|
||award informs the general public that the club has a strong and|
||safe infrastructure, high standards of welfare and equality|
||coaching & management in a community sports club.|
||The Toilet block was re-roofed for £1645 with the aid of a £1200|
||grant from DCC Neighbourhood Partnership (Blagreaves Board)|
||A grant of £2000 was received from the EMA Community Fund to|
||go towards cricket covers bought for a total of £5,300 from Stuart|
||Canvas and a £4043 grant from the ECB to buy NBB tables and|
||benches from Robert Dyas at a total cost of £4,400|
||The club acquired a heavy roller for the cricket pitch from|
||Ashbourne CC for £1000 as a result of the existing roller having|
||significant mechanical issues.|
||The tea pavilion was successfully used as a polling station for the|
||local elections on May 5th 2022.|
||The cricket section enjoyed a very good season when both the 1st|
||and 2ndteams came third in their respective divisions of the|
||Derbyshire County League and the Junior Section continues to|
||thrive. All Stars junior coaching was carried out for the third year|
||running for 5-8 year old children and Dynamo sessions for 9-11|
||year olds were initiated. All Stars introduces children to the basic|
||skills of cricket and Dynamos is the next step up prior to playing|
||hardball cricket at u11 level.|
||£242 was raised from a charity cricket event, on Sunday August|
||8th, held in memory of our former player David Webb. The|
||proceeds were donated to MIND. Another charity event was held|
||for Orphans in Pakistan on 26thJune.|
||Derbyshire Cricket Federation held a coaching week for juniors|
||during the school summer holidays when a significant number of|
||children from the local area attended.|
||Providing and maintaining cricket pitches for local community|
||teams to use the CIO’s facility.|
||The Bowls pavilion double doors were fitted in February after the|
||fund raising events for their procurement in the previous two|
||years.|
||The Cricket Section’s Ground Force Team continued to cut|
||hedges around the perimeter of the outfield during the winter|
||months.|
||A First Aid Course was held at the club on October 17thwhen 12|
||members attended|
