The trustees review the accounts on a
monthty basis.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure the
stability of the museum and the continuing
operation of the organisation. The reserves
are intended to provide an internal source
of funds for situations such as a sudden
increase in expens￿ one-off in budgeted
expenses such as major capital repairs,
unanticipated loss in funding or uninsured
losses. The reserrfes may also be used for
one-time nonrecurring expenses that will
build long-term expansion such as
investment in infrastructure.
It is the intention of the trustees that the
reserves are to be used if necessary and
subsequently to be replenished within a
reasonably short period of time. This policy
will be implemented with other governance
and financial policies of the museum, now
or in the future. and is intended to support
the goals and strategies contained in these
related policies and in strategic and
operational plans.

I report to the trustees on my examinauon of the accounts of Merdgissey and Distiicr Museum (the Charity)
for the year ended 31 December 2023, which are Set out on pages 4- 6.
This report is made solely to the Charl￿S trustees, as a Ix)dy, in accordan￿ with section 154 of the Charities
Act 2011. My independent exarniner's work has been undertaken so that I might state to the Charitys
trustees those matters l am required ro state to them in an independent exaTniner's repor¢ and for no other
purpose. To tELe fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume resp)nsibility to anyone other
than the Charity, the Charity's members as a body and the Charitys trustees for rny independent examiner's
work. for this report, or for the opinions I have fonned.

wlth the requirements of the ChaTities Acr 2011 ('the Act,).
I repon in respect of rny examinauon of rhe CharitJPs accounts canied out under section 145 OF the 2011 Act
and in carrying out my examinauon I have followed all the applicable Directions 8iven by the Charity
Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the Acr.

BACKGROUND
The Chadty was registered on 31 October 2019 and became operauve on 30 Aug￿ 2023 when the transfer
of Assets Agreement was signed by the trustee5 of the unincorporated ChaTiry no. 258616 and trustees of
this new Charity Incorporated Organisation, no. 1186068- being the same persons.
Charity no. 258616 will be dissolved as soon as the ownership of the land has been transferred to the CIO by
the Land Registry and the annual return for Charity 258616 submitted on the Charity Commisslon website.
OBJE￿1VEs AND AcrIvrriES
The objectives and attivity of the Charity are to estabIish and n￿InCaln for the benefit of the public a local
history rnuseum in Mevagissey and to work for rhe public benefit of the inhabitants of Mevaglssey, as from
time to time constituted. by stitnulating interest in and care for the beaury, hlsrory and character of the sald
town and by encouraging the preservation of features of general pubLic iirnenity or historic interest therein.
The trustees have reviewed their objectives, tM)licies and activiues to ensure they continue to reflect the
Charit￿5 aims. In carrying our this revlew they have considered the Chariry Commission'5 revised general
guidance on public benefit.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
The total income for the year was £34,262 (2022: £7,209). Total payments of £10,322 (2022: £5,1(K)) were
made.
Net receipts of £23,940 (2022: £2,109) were added to the funds introduced from the Mevagissey and
District Museum Sociery to give £74,989 (2022: £53,891) at the year end.
RISK, RESERVES AND INVESTMEwrs
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which this Charity is exposed relatlng to its operations and
Ilnances and are satisfied that under the present System in place there is no significant exposure.
They have also consldered whetheT some level OF free reserves should be n￿l￿taIned and have deaded rhat
no reserves aTe necessary given the absence of any comtnitments which could not be mct by the disposal of a
tangible asset.
Investment pollcy need not be constdered as the Charity has no Si￿￿fiCallt inv&stments.
