TRUSTEES REPORT
AIM AND PURPOSES
Christ Church Fareham exist5 to bring the hope, loy, truth, and love of Jesus in the Fareham area and
surrounding region5. We seek to live oul the Great Commission, given by jesus Christ to his disciples to make
disciples, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son the Holy SpiTIt, and teaching them to observe
all of Jesus, comrnand5. As part of this, we seek to grow a Bible-believin& Gospel-proclaimin& 5pirli-fllled
Church in Fareham for today and future generations.
We have four charitable aims, definpd in our6overning document.

We preach from the Bible every Sunday at our wèekly meetin85. During 2023, we have preached sermon
series from the Old restament, includin8 Gensis 1-3 and Isaiah 13-30,. and have preached through a lorge
portion of Matthew'5 Gospel, Acts 14 and all of l John from the New Testament. In 2023. Jeff Moss
preached a thematlc ierrn0Tr 5erie5 un marriage. V151tor5 10 the Churc4 have often commented
appreciative￿ on the Bible teaching we provide.
Throughout 2023, we ian Life Groups that met weekly. These groups *ncoura8ed time tO8etheT in one
anotherfs homes to build friendships, pray together and learn together In discipleship. By the end of 2023
we were running 5 Life gTOUP&
We also ran some successful Focus Groups in 2023, focused on the person and work of the Holy Spirit and
a Foundations course for women in the Church. 80th Bro(tps ￿CeIVed excellent feedback.

Each Sunday we offer Children'5 Work for children under 11. There have been games, crafts. videos and
teaching from the Bible to help our children grow in understanding of who God is and the salvation offered
in Jesus Christ.
The youth, at secondary School age, in the Church take part in ihe adult5 rneetlng one week and havfj a8e-
5pe£iflc teachlnÉ in a classroom the other week. There are also midweek activities, learning m(Jre about
Jesus.
Jason Manning continues to lead our Under 185 ministry. bringing leadership and greater theolo%1￿1 intjut
for our under 18s and support for the parents in the Church. We have also funded him to Stydy a graduate
diploma at Unlon Bible College. which he will complete in 2024
In 2023 we totsk a group 016 teenagers to NewDay. They had a fantastic time worshippin8 God and
reported positive experiences of God in their lives

Sadly, we conducted one funeral thi5 year, but were able to offer end of life pastoral care and support to
those who are grievin8. We 8150 gave financial support to help wsth funeral cost5.
Over Christmas. we prepared 16 Christmas hampers in partnership with Iccal schools and ¢harities and
blessed needy families in the area
We now have 61 people on our mailing list and Dverall over IC(J people with whom we are in on8olng
rglationshtp through varlous mèans of communitxtion. vjho rpgularly recdve offers of help and support,
and who themselves loln In w￿h the work of caring tor those less fortunate.
In additlon to carin8 for the people in the church and lo¢al area, we have a partnership wilh an Indlvldual
missionary in East Africa to hdg alleviate poverty there. We continue to look for local partners, working to
care for people In Fareham and the surrounding region.

Christian and was baptised. Three people, after a longer journey finding faith, chose to be baptised this
year. Two teen38ers were baptised, after declaring faith in Jesu5. Two others were baptised as believers.

Another person who completed Alpha would like to be baptised in 20241
Numbers on a Sunday have increased. On average, 69 people gathered each Sunday. up 53% versus 45
people gathering in 2022. Most of this growth came in the eafly part of the year and plateaued a Ilttle
towards the end of 2023. Our building only really has room for 90 people, so we need to find a bi88er
venue with rnOTe space.
In 2023, wè continued to s*Jpport a missionary in East A51a. His Work allebiate5 poverty and shares the
Gospel with people who have never heard it belore.
We started supporting a Church plant and CAY projert In Albania to care fof children and see the Gospel
proclaimed there
We have also been regularly supporting Commi55ion, the family of thurthes we are part of. They use their
funds to spread the Gospel across the UK. India, Spain. Poftugal and USA ind into new region5. They also
help alleviate poverty in those resiofis
Our Pastor, Ouncan Sills, uses some of hls employed time 5eTving Commission Ipart of New Frontiers) who
seek to preach the Gospel and reach out across nations. On a monthly basls, he has been feachrnÉ
theolo￿ io people 3crw--. the South of England. This was the fourth year the course h85 run and Duncan 15
responsible for leading the course, as we take our first 5tep5 as a charlty into a more formal education
settlng.
We are so grateful to all our members and volunteers inthe Church, who enable all thls
work to take place. Thank you to everyone who has played even a small role in what we
did in 2023.

FiwfuRE DEVELOPMENTS
2023 was another very ertouragin8 year for us. Baptising 8 people really was a wonderful celebfation. We
Saw qood growth and continued to impact the Ilve5 of people in Fareham In qreater way5 than in previDi
years. We have signrficant plans movlnB forward.
We will rijn the Alpha Course again in 2024, combined with a Mission5 Weekend. desvdned to spur our
people into a bolder mi55ional lifeslvle sh3ringJesus with others around them.
We have already started the search for a new Sunday meetlng venue, so we can provide additional rDorn
to grow as a Chtsrch
We are looking to build deeper relationships with people in the community, looking for ways to help
peDple in need across our town. Ope schoal, who may become nur future Sunday ¥enJe. have been
P051tive about us particlpating in their comrnunity events and prcjects
Our under 185 work will continue to grow and expand. We have a number of plans to help traln our
volunteers better an(J run youth socia15 and events during the year
In August the Church will attend the Commission Festival In Shepton Mallett, campin8 and learning about
God all together.
Most irnportantly, we are steadily growSng our congregation and are excited for new people jolnlng us In
the future.

Since taklng on a new member of staff, CCF have adopted a number of employment pollcles desSgned to
protect our employees. These wlll need to Brow and adapt over time.
FINANCIAL REVIEW AND RESERVES POLICY
£93.063 income has been received in 20231£72,051 in 20221 and payments made of £99.0511£62.5701. Thls
brought total reserves to £56,376 all of which was being held in the bank. This 15 well above the required 3-
morbth operatln8 Cost requirement.
Our giving increased 29% in one calendar year, which has enabled us to be more generous and do significantly
mole in the rni55ion field. The oveiall10ss ITr 2023 was budgeied, 35 we employed 2 lull time employees For the
whole calendar year for the first tlme, and planned lo be more 8enerous In supporting mission around the
World (which increased 136% in 20231. We are encouraged by our financial position and gi¥e praise to God for
the real gener051ty of thurth members.
There is a monetary asset of £1,872 of 8ift ald, whlch we will claim from the HIARC In 2024.

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Christ Church Fareham for the year ended
31 December 2023.

As Trustee5you are responsible for the Pfeporation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements
of the Charities Att 2011 (the 2011 Actl.
You consider that an audit 15 not required for this year under section 144121 of the 2011 Act and that an
independent examination 15 needed.
