The year 2023/2024 was another good year for the club in terms of activities undertaken; over the year, three open days have been held, which were attended by over 200 people. Open days prove to be a popular way to showcase the club at its best and results in new members joining along the way.

The Club held a Quarterly General Members Meeting on 13th August 2024 at the request of a quorate of members. At this meeting, the Club Treasurer announced a wish to stand down from his duties. A new volunteer Treasurer came forward and was duly appointed to the post along with the appointment of a Deputy to shadow and step forwards on occasions where necessary.

The Club held its annual public model railway exhibition on 8 June 2025 at the Ridgeway Centre, which attracted 815 members of the public. 17 Traders and 6 Railway Supporters Groups were represented plus, 22 Exhibitors layouts.

The club took part in two public community events, at Woburn Sands Methodist church and St Mary and St Giles Church in Stony Stratford. At both locations, displays of model layouts were well received and serve to raise awareness of the facilities that the Club has to offer.

As well as public community events, Club layouts were exhibited at shows which included: TINGS, Silver Fox, Alsager, TadRail, Northampton, Oxrail, Royston, Watford, and Crewe In addition, the Club’s Junior layout and 009 layout attended a railway themed event in Woburn Sands. These events showcase the Club’s layout to a wider audience and support the wider community of railway modellers.

At its 2023 Annual General Meeting, a voluntary collection from members resulted in a cheque to the value of £200 was presented to Cancer Research in memory of a long-standing member who sadly passed away.

The Club organised a day outing to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for members and their families in October 2023; this was well supported. In addition, the Club also took part in the public decorated Christmas Tree event within the Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre.

As a further service to its members, the Club has appointed a Librarian to more effectively manage its stock of railway books.

In addition to its regular Tuesday and Friday club nights, the Club continues to hold daytime meetings which benefits its older members who are able to continue to enjoy their hobby whilst not having to drive at night. These meetings are attended on average by between 5-10 members.

At its Christmas social, the Club held a collection for charity which raised £200. Members decided that this year, that the beneficiary should be the Railway Charity.

The Club unfortunately recorded a loss of £1,702.08 against an income of £15,811.42. Increase costs in the area of materials necessary to pursue the hobby of railway modelling, increased rental charges on the Club’s exhibition venue together with the decision to rent additional space within the Clubroom

were responsible for that loss occurring. Action to mitigate this loss has been taken, and it is expected that a return towards a surplus position will be recorded in the 2024/25 year.
