## **Music for Memories Mid Sussex Annual Report and Accounts 2023** ## **Aims and Purposes** Music for Memories Mid Sussex aims to provide personalised music headsets to those living with memory loss, loneliness or other needs across the community in order to bring joy and comfort to those receiving them. Music for Memories Mid Sussex works on a basis of no charge per headset in order to ensure all who need to benefit from them are able to. ## **Objectives and Activities** Music for Memories Mid Sussex aims to deliver approximately 50 headsets per year to applicable individuals and support local care and residential homes in developing personalised playlists for residents. This is best done through face-to-face meetings as development of a relevant headset can take several hours and depending on the recipient may need to be done over a number of smaller time blocks. ## **Achievements and Performances** Much as with the last three years, 2023 has proved a challenging year for Music for Memories Mid Sussex. Throughout this year the trustees and volunteers have separately needed to relocate out of area and are now based in Yorkshire and Gloucestershire. We have been able to deliver a reasonable number of new or replacement headsets within Mid Sussex thanks in part to the advancement in remote work since the Pandemic. ## **Volunteers** Music for Memories Mid Sussex runs entirely on a volunteer basis and the trustees would like to thank those who support us in the work we do, with particular thanks to Jackie Beckett, who looks after the financial administration of the organisation, and Stephen Beckett who has been of invaluable in the maintenance of our website. ## **Financial Review** Due to the relocation of trustees and volunteers out of area we felt that it was not appropriate to fundraise for an unclear future and the Trustees have been comfortable that we have enough funds to sustain ourselves without this in 2023. We will carry forward £6867.82 into 2024. ## **Looking Forward** During this calendar Trevor & Jackie Beckett have retired from Mid Sussex to the Forest of Dean and the trustees are in agreement that this location should become the new focus of the charity. We are in process of completing the relevant paperwork with our bank and Charity Commission and look forward to the report for 2024 being one of much more joy and progress than has been feasible in the last couple of years. We will explore this change and what it means for the charity in far more detail in the 2024 report. The Trustees would like to place on record our thanks to all who have helped get Music for Memories Mid Sussex up and running over these past years whether that be time, financially or just enthusiasm and we look forward to what comes next!
