Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
Devizes Lions Club raises signifcant funds throughout the year from its fundraising actvites. Some of those actvites raise money for specifc organisatons that we consider will beneft from such a contributon. The club uses general funds that we raise through other fundraising actvites to provide grants to causes and individuals local to Devizes. We support appeals from Lions’ Districts, Mult District, Lions Clubs Internatonal and Lions Clubs Internatonal Foundaton. The Club undertakes several community service projects. Examples of such actvites include: Sports’ and Arts’ Coaching Weekends Devizes Lions believe that sports and the arts should be accessible to everyone. Since 1990, Devizes Lions has run a Sports Coaching Weekend where, for a modest contributon, local schoolchildren take part in a sport or actvity that they might not tried before. Tuiton is allprovided by qualifed coaches. Each |

year around 250 children take part.
The Arts’ Coaching weekend follows the same format at Sports’ Coaching. It’s a more recent innovation and runs on a smaller scale but is no less valuable for that.
Presentation Evening
Towards the end of the Lions’ year the Club holds a presentation evening when we make donations to a number of organisations and charities that operate within the Devizes area. These are selected following a rigorous appraisal to determine those that will benefit most from the donations. We also make grants to those Lions’ projects in the UK and overseas that we consider will most benefit from our contributions. This year more than 20 local groups shared around £9k
Donations to Individuals and Groups
We receive requests throughout the year from local individuals, families, community groups and others that need financial or material support. We review those requests against our Grant Making Policy and the funds we have available.
Carol Float
Each year, Devizes Lions tour the town with a float carrying a cheery Father Christmas, lights and music. The public can follow our route each evening in real-time via our Facebook Page.

The float is one of our major sources of income and it is also an important event for Devizes. We rely increasingly on volunteers from outside the club to make this event happen.
As well as the touring float, we have a few static collections in the street or at supermarkets.
Golf Day
This is a joint event where we join with Devizes Rotary to present an event enjoyed by dozens of golfers. It’s also a decent fundraiser and the money raised goes to a local charity or group that is chosen by both service clubs.
Lions on the Green
This is a Classic Cars and Family Fun Day which we hold on Devizes Large Green. There are vintage vehicles, stalls and things for children to enjoy. We rely on on the weather, but this has become one of our major sources of income.
Bingo
We run a bingo evening most months. They’re public events with prizes.
Public Collections
Devizes Lions Club supports other charities’ fundraising activities by holding collections for organisations such as Marie Curie Cancer Care, BBC Children in Need and British Legion Poppy selling. We also hold public collections on an ad

Financial Review
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
