|||||The Ob'ects of Devizes Lions Club||
|||||Under the terms ofthe Clubs' Constitution,
the Trustees
apply funds at their||
|||||discretion,
making
grants where they believe that their contribution
will make a||
|||||real difference.
The Club only makes grants
in furtherance
of its charitable||
|||||objects. The Objects ofthe Club are shown
earlier
in this document.||
|||||Priorities for Su
ort||
|||||The number
ofapplications
that can be supported
is limited
by the amount|of|
|||||funds available
for distribution
in any one year. The Trustees
have determined||
|||||that the priorities for funding
will be:||
|||||-subject to other elements
ofthe Trustees'
grant-making
policy, no restrictions||
|||||are imposed
on the purpose
for which a grant may be made.||
|||||- as there are numerous
Lions Clubs
in the UK, applications
from Devizes|and|
|||||the surrounding
area are generally
given
priority.
Trustees also consider||
|||||national
and international
funding
requests.||
|||||- applications
for support
and/or grants are all considered
on their own merits||
|||||following
investigation
by the Club's Welfare Committee.
However,
given|that|
|||||most ofthe available
funds are raised within the local community,
those||
|||||applications
that are local are given special consideration.||
|||||- using the above guiding
principles,
the following are examples
ofareas||
|||||adopted for support:||
|You may choose to
include further statements,||||Local charities
and causes - youth groups,
groups
working
with the
elderly,
residential
and nursing
homes,
individual
appeals, causes|that|

|||||In addition
to making
grants set out above, the Club supports
and puts on||
|||||events to benefit and serve the local community.
It also makes grants without||
|||||receiving
applications
where the Trustees decide that the need is appropriate.||
|||||The above priorities
in this policy will be reviewed
every year (or more often if||
|||||deemed
appropriate)
by the Trustees and may be changed
in accordance|with|
|||||the Trustees'
view ofthe most effective application
of available
funds at any||
|||||point
in time.||
|||||~Princi
les||
|||||In awarding
grants, the Trustees
will apply the following
principles:||
|||||The Trustees
will not normally
support
applications
from large national||
|||||charities
(unless
it is for local use) or charities deemed
by the Trustees||
|||||to be already adequately
funded.||
|||||The Trustees
may work with other organisations
to fund initiatives||
|||||beyond the financial scope ofa single organisation.||
|||||Applications
from previous
recipients
ofgrants or from previously||
|||||unsuccessful
applications
will be considered
by the Trustees
on their||
|||||own merits.
Although
the Trustees
will have regard to the outcome|of|
|||||the previous
grant, any new application
will not receive preferential|or|
|||||adverse consideration.||

|Exclusions||

|All applications
for grants
will be subject to initial assessment
to ensure||

|relevant
comment
to the applicant
where appropriate.||
|Applicants
should
note that the Trustees receive far more applications||

|a grant.||
|Monitorin
and Publicit||
|Where the grant is for an extended
period, the Trustees
may require project||
