Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From: 1 January 2024 Period end date 31 December 2024

Charity name: Red Kite Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Service

Charity registration number: 1185947

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To provide comprehensive services to
survivors of historic or recent rape or
sexual abuse or violence to enable them to
recover and thrive once more in their
communities.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
To provide a Helpline which creates a safe
space for survivors of rape and sexual
abuse to contact, in order to speak to
trained volunteers or qualified therapists
who will listen, believe, validate and
empathise with them. Red Kite provides
psychological first aid and practical support
to manage their difficulties in life which
provides them with the capacity to process
the sexual violence experiences. We triage
their needs, making onward referrals to
other agencies as appropriate. We provide
therapy through a variety of means,
whether one-to-one or in groups.
Red Kite provides therapy (free at the point
of contact) to enable survivors to learn new
coping strategies, to manage their
everyday lives and responsibilities, and to
heal enough to live full, happier lives in
their communities. Clients’ qualitative and
quantitative improvements are monitored
by standard questionnaires and feedback
forms and recorded for performance
reporting purposes.
We operate a mixed model of service
combining a virtual office and online
services with face-to-face consultations
with Therapists in their consulting rooms or

1

other safe spaces according to client
preference.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The Board of Trustees have read,
considered and agreed to abide by the
guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit.

SORP reference
Policy on grant making Para 1.38 Our Fundraising Policy dictates that we will
only apply for funds from ethical companies
who operate from a strong moral basis.
This decision also conforms to our Ethics
Policy.
Policy on social investment
including program related
investment
Para 1.38 Red Kite is not yet in a position to
participate in investments.
Contribution made by
volunteers
Para 1.38 Volunteers donate their time to operate a
Support Helpline. Therapists deliver
therapy at preferred rates to provide advice
and therapy to callers to helpline to enable
as many people as possible to benefit
within the funding available. They also offer
their consulting rooms at no cost to Red
Kite.
The Friends of Red Kite volunteer their time
to raise awareness of Red Kite and attract
potential clients to receive services. Their
wider role is to undertake an educative
function in society, whilst engaging with
local communities to promote a no
tolerance approach to misogyny and
patriarchy. These strategies aim to promote
greater societal norms regarding equality of
everyone regarding whether they engage in
sexual activity or not. They also engage in
collecting service user feedback and low-
level fundraising.
Other Trustees volunteer their time to manage
Red Kite, including recruitment of staff,
development, provision and delivery of
training materials, management of
finances, fundraising, PR and
communications with media, and
secretarial duties for Board meetings.
