## **Becket Parent, Teacher Association (PTA) Treasurer’s Report 2022-23**

## **Charity Accounts**

The financial year for the PTA runs from 1st September until 31st August. The Annual Treasurer’s Report has been compiled based on the guidelines issued by the Charity Commission. The attached supporting Charity Accounts, presented for the Financial Year 2022/2023, have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis and have also been compiled in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Charity Commission.

## **Objectives of the Parent Teacher Association**

The PTA organises events and raises funds for the school, to be spent on things that the school budget cannot pay for. We have two aims: firstly to raise money to benefit our children and secondly, to promote the strong sense of community that exists between parents, children and staff.

## **Committee Members**

The Chair of the PTA for this year was Mrs E Horne. The Treasurer was Miss J Burley and the Secretary was Mrs S Swaby.

## **Account Overview**

The opening balance of the PTA bank account was £4,160 on September 1st 2022. The closing balance was £5,689.67 on 31st August 2023. Income totaled £4,835.18 and Expenditure £3,298.41. A detailed breakdown of the account is contained at the end of this document.

## **Summary of Main Fundraising Activities**

## **Autumn Term 2022**

Fundraising in the Autumn Term commenced with a Halloween Disco. This raised £608.50. We saw some amazing costumes! There was dancing, refreshments, accessories and the children also enjoyed the addition of some Halloween related games organized and run by our PTA volunteers.

The sale of Christmas gifts and the Christmas Fayre raised a combined total of £1,125. PTA volunteers stood out on the playground in all weathers during lunch breaks and before and after school selling the novelty gifts to our parent community and pupils. The Fayre was very well attended and the school hall was packed to capacity and was a great success. This year there was the introduction of Santa’s grotto which was hugely popular with Santa giving out gifts that were donated by our local branch of Tesco Metro.

## **Spring Term 2023**

The Spring Term saw the return of the Valentine’s disco. The PTA chose to be more environmentally friendly and not sell single use plastics so the glow sticks were not on offer but the children enjoyed face painting and temporary tattoos instead, as well as ‘Love/Appreciation related’ merchandise. The disco raised £678.

The PTA also benefitted from a TT Rockstars day where the children all came to school dressed as a rockstar or anything non-uniform related. This raised another £96.

## **Summer Term 2023**

Back by popular demand was the Easter Raffle. We were lucky enough to have enough easter eggs donated so that every child could have mini eggs to take home as well as the bigger eggs won in the raffle. As always, this event created a lot of excitement as the draw took place.

Also this term, the PTA introduced a new initiative to sell Mothers Day and Father’s Day gifts. Mother’s Day sales were unfortunately low due to the timing of Inset Days and Teacher strike days. Father’s Day sales were more successful.

The term ended with the Summer Fayre. This was a great success thanks to all the effort of the PTA’s volunteers and was enjoyed by all who attended.

The total raised from these 4 events was £1,504.75.
