HOMELESS STREET ANGELS LIMITED
(COMPANY NO: 11624796 ENGLAND AND WALES)
DIRECTORS. REPORT
The directors present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Principal activity
The charitable company's objectives are set out in the Memorandum and Articles ol Association dated 10 September 2018,
subs8qLJently amended on 21 S8Pt8mber 2019. The aim of our charity is to promote soci81 inclusion for the public ben8fit by
working with people in Leeds and the surrounding area who are socially excluded as a result of homelessness or risk of
homelessness.
During the year ended 31 March 2024 we have grown further. assisted by the generosity of our donors and the hard work of our
trustees and volunteers. Alongside feeding and clothing over 100 of our homeless clients in the city centre every Thursday night,
our foodbank registei ha5 increased by 50¢A during 2023124 to 640 families.
Our office and storage facility in Chapel Allerton has served us well, but we are now outgrowing this base for the charity. We have
follow8d our two year strategy in 2023 and 2024 of accutnulating fund5 Wlth a vi8w to acquiring premi58S and w8 ar8 now v8ry
close to achieving our goal of having a support centre, which will be called Abi House.
Abi House will be a safe place which our clients can come to for food, advi￿ and get a helping hand in devel(>ping life skills. We
will have exlra storage for furniture and 8ppli8nces. a rrt-for-purpose foodbank and other spaces in which volunteers can provide
extra services for the homeless in the city ol Leeds. As well as having this base, we are very grateful to local businesses such as
dentists and podiatrists who have provided Iife-changing assistance for our elients.
Our team of volunteers has grown over the last 12 months, and we now have over 50 people helping with the outreach, food
parcels delivery and the collection of donations. Quite simply, the charity would be unable t(> help the homeless in Leeds without
the dedioated support of our volunteers and the trustees arg Very grateful for thgir work.
We are regularly attending meetings with the local authority, public service groups and local businesses. Whilst our focus remains
on direct assistance for our cli8nts, we also recognise that part of our work should be to engage with the comrnunity to r8ise
awareness and to react to change, such as the proposed Criminal Justi￿ Bill which, in its current form, will criminalise the
htsmeless. Our Christmas single, appearances at awards ceremonies and on national television, have all helped to both raise
awareness of homelessness and to enwurage donors to continue to support us.
Activities undertaken to further public benefit are focussed around the relief of homelessness for persons in the city of Leeds and
the surrounding ar8a, regard18ss of rac8, gend8r or s8XU81 orientation. The company is registered a5 a charity with th8 Charity
Commission and the directors confirm that they have cornplied with the requirements of section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to
have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England & Wales.
The charity has the following trustees. The full board of trustees meets on a quarterfy basis, with further interirn meetings on 8 more
regular basis to discuss operational issues..
