## **Trustees Report of the Hope Community Projects Coventry**

Hope Community Projects seek to offer practical support to enable opportunities for social interaction, a holiday feeding programme, friendship, support, and advice. Children and families are given the right support at the right time in the right way, by running a varied program of opportunities supporting people to build their capabilities, confidence, understanding and well-being.

We have been running community outreach work in Hillfields, we have delivered projects supporting children and families from our local schools, family hubs and health visiting teams.

Some of our activities:

## **HOPE FAMILIES**

A whole family approach to services for children, young people, and families.

Hope Families helps children, parents, and their wider family network to ensure the family can realise its full potential.

School holidays can be a challenging time for families with

- Increased Food Costs

- Lack of fun stimulating activities

- Social Isolation

We support vulnerable and low-income families during school holidays by providing free nutritious meals along with activities and day trips.

## **BREAKFAST CLUB**

Breakfast club was made available to local families Monday to Friday from 7:30am. Breakfast club offered healthy breakfast foods to fuel the children with energy for the school day.

## **It is the opinion of the trustees that all our Projects/Activities are always in the interest of the public.**

## **Major Milestones that we have covered during this period include** :

**1, Closure of the Nursery** - We had to close our nursery due to the Covid19 pandemic and the restrictions placed on us.

**2, Move from existing Building** – Due to ongoing restrictions placed onto us and the closure of the nursery, the decision was made by the Trustee’s to move out of our current building, this allowed for us to focus on Hope Communities needs entirely.

**3, Finding a new Home** - We have found and secured a new building which gives Hope Community Projects stability for the foreseeable future, also a building to ourselves also allows us to be less restricted in what we can provide the community.

Finally, the trustees would like to note that all effort are being made to secure funding for Hope Communities, to allow the charity to establish a 6-month financial reserves to cover through challenging periods.

## **Independent Examiner’s Report**

130 Leamington Road Coventry CV3 6JY

The Trustees Hope Community Projects The Ancillary 1 Binley Road Coventry CV 11/10/2021

Dear Sirs,

I report on the accounts of the charity for the financial period ended 31/12/2020.

The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this period under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the2011 Act) and that an independent examination was needed. The charity’s gross income was less than £250,000.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it has been my responsibility to examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ’true and fair view’ of the charity’s activities.

After having carried out my examination, no matter has come to my attention that gives me reasonable cause to believe that the accounts do not, in any material respect meet the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities, or that there are any matters to which attention should be drawn in order to reach a proper understanding of the accounts.

Yours Faithfully

Clive Williams FCMA (retired)
