To advance education for the public benefit into the origins, history and uses of underground sites and associated surface features especially but not exclusively in the ancient county of Kent and to disseminate all useful knowledge acquired by means of publications and lectures and to provide specialist and practical advise.

Objects: The Object Of The CIO Is To Advance Education For The Public Benefit Into The Origins, History, And Uses Of Underground Sites And Associated Surface Features Especially But Not Exclusively In The Ancient County Of Kent And To Disseminate All Useful Knowledge Acquired By Means Of Publications And Lectures And To Provide Specialist And Practical Advice. Nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment.
