To advance in life and help socially and economically disadvantaged young people aged up to 30 in the United Kingdom by:

a) Providing mentoring support and activities which develop their skills, Summary of the objects of the capacities and capabilities, assist with their emotional, physical, mental, charity set out in its spiritual and/or social growth, encourage them to fulfil their potential and governing document enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.

b) Providing grants of financial assistance to advance education and promote opportunities for learning and training.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the charity again had difficulties establishing its work with national lockdowns still in effect and many inperson activities prohibited. Nonetheless, virtual events were possible so the charity took the opportunity to work towards an official launch.

This virtual launch event took place on 6[th] February 2021 and raised over £20,000 for the upcoming work of the charity. Over 300 people attended the Zoom event from all over the world. Auction and raffle activities were very popular and contributed greatly to the funds raised, alongside oneoff donations and a number of regular donors.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

Plans continue to be formulated for fundraising activities and outreach programmes to commence in September 2021. Trustees continue planning for 2021-2022 activities, to include the awarding of an A Level scholarship, mentoring of 16-25 year olds and diversity initiatives in schools across London.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

During this year, the charity held its virtual launch event on Thursday 6[th] February 2021 via Zoom. Over 300 people attended from across the world, with guest speakers, an auction and raffle. This event raised over £20,000 to go towards the work of the charity in the coming year. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting national lockdown prevented any further activity from taking place during this year.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of The Joshua Dorgu Foundation

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Joshua Dorgu Foundation (the Trust) for the year ended 30 April 2021.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
