was introduced to Music Relief by my
mother about 3 years ago at a poetry
workshop in Thornton Heath library. His
confidence has grown and he’s becoming
such a character. Music Relief has
provided so much support for my son
over the years but more so when times|
got difficult at his secondary school. They took time out of their busy schedules to come and support him and myself during a challenging time at school. They helped to devise a plan along with his Headteacher, to help get him back on track. He was partnered with a mentor who has been superb and he has really connected with them. I have definitely noticed some changes in my son’s attitude to life and school but there’s still a bit of a way to go yet. I would recommend Music Relief to all 11–19year-olds out there whether they want to make new connections or to those who love to perform and want to make a difference to society through music. Music Relief also offers support to not only the children that attend but also to the parents of the children if they so need it like I did. When it just seemed like everyone was out to get at my son, Music Relief wasn’t. They looked to find out the root of what the problem may be rather than just labelling my son as another statistic. There’s such a family feel whenever we attend and everyone is made to feel welcome’.
