## **Summary of Events October 2019-March 2021**

In October 2019, Resuscication was delighted to receive confirmation of its registration as a charity. This was a time of much excitement for Resuscication as we were also in discussion with several universities regarding setting up branches of Resuscication and we had ongoing teaching sessions in schools in our existing localities of Coventry, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire.

These sessions continued into the first part of 2020. However, in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Initially a plan was made to adjust sessions to ensure safety of volunteers and learners and an emergency policy for operating in the COVID-19 pandemic was written. It soon became clear that it was not feasible to continue any teaching sessions during the pandemic. With the limitations on groups visiting schools this has meant that in this period we have not been able to run any further sessions.

Our plans for expansion have also been on hold due to the difficulty with communicating with other universities and due to the time constraints placed on our trustee team (who have all begun working as NHS doctors during this period). We expect there to be ongoing significant limitations to our ability to provide teaching sessions throughout the upcoming year (April 2021-March 2022) but we are optimistic that we can use this time to ensure we have the correct policies and structures in place to allow expansion of our charity when it is safe to return to teaching sessions in schools.

## **Plans for April 2021-March 2022**

In the upcoming year, although the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to continue to limit teaching opportunities, we are optimistic that we will be able to begin to expand the charity by opening new branches at universities as we feel that healthcare students will be keen to get back into teaching in schools as soon as possible.

We will contact universities through a variety of mediums including email, social media and via inperson networking. We are also open to opening branches at universities outside of England, as CPR is now on the national curriculum in Wales, and CPR education is suggested by all the local councils in Scotland. We therefore feel it is a good time to be part of the Resuscication family.
