## ANNUAL TRUSTEES REPORT FOR ST. JUST IN PENWITH MEN’S SHED 2024 – 2025 Through Spring the membership increased, with our first lady member joining and total numbers eventually rising by year end to 20. As with last year there was a steady trickle of members moving away or finding they could not spare the time to attend any more. Most sad was the departure of our Secretary and original driving force, who moved away from the area. Very fortunately, this coincided with the arrival of a new member who was happy to take on a lot of responsibility for organisation and to stand as a Trustee. Work on the inside of the building continued with new benches being constructed in several of the bays and the kitchen and “Loo Shed” being insulated, boarded out and painted as well as the soakaway for waste water being created. The kitchen units were completed and water heater connected, allowing hot and cold water to be provided to the sink. Donations of tools and other shed contents continued apace throughout the year leading to a lack of working space and it was decided that a priority task would be to sort the tools and dispose of any that were faulty or duplicated multiple times. The remainder of the tools were stored with those in most constant use in the most convenient locations. Storage was also created along the wall of the workshop for fixings and a couple of members took on the unenviable task of sorting and labelling many thousands of assorted fixings of all shapes and sizes. There were two notable events in September of 2024, with a member of Cornwall Woodturners giving a demonstration to 6 members in the middle of the month and the official opening of The Shed by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall and Lady Bolitho on 27 September. This was a particularly special day, and an opportunity to show the Lord Lieutenant and other local dignitaries how much progress had been achieved. It was also extremely pleasing that both Radio and Television media attended and produced pieces that were broadcast in the following week. An Annual General Meeting was held in December at Lanyon Farm workshop. At the meeting the Chairman and Treasurer were re-elected and two additional Trustees appointed by members. This confirmed the members who had volunteered earlier in the year. At the meeting the treasurer outlined the “Shed’s” finances. He pointed out that, although our funds had been depleted due to the amount of work required to bring the workshop into use, funds were adequate. The decision to increase membership subscriptions to £20 per annum and weekly contributions to £2 per week had produced sufficient funds for day to day running of the workshop and was officially confirmed by the membership. In February we acquired an additional large space on the opposite side of the farm yard which was fitted out with shelving and a large workbench. Additonally, the doors and windows were repaired or replaced and the steep steps reworked to make the facility more accessible.
