Trustees Statement
Introduction:
Since Southside Org's registration with the commission, our journey has been marked by both challenges and triumphs. Following our official establishment, the unforeseen onset of the global pandemic unleashed a wave of unprecedented disruption, profoundly impacting our ability to kickstart our full schedule of planned activities. The pandemic's untimely arrival cast a shadow over our aspirations, presenting daunting obstacles and unforeseen hurdles. As the community grappled with the economic downturn and widespread uncertainty, our initial momentum was met with numerus unforeseen roadblocks.
However, adversity has served as a catalyst for resilience and innovation within Southside. Despite the daunting landscape, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to serving our community and advancing our mission. Faced with unprecedented challenges, our team rallied together, leveraging our collective strength and determination to navigate the stormy seas of uncertainty. Through unwavering dedication and resourcefulness, we have adapted and evolved, emerging stronger and more resilient in the face of adversity.
Key Achievements and Activities:
Throughout the year, we achieved several milestones and undertook impactful initiatives:
Successful Fundraising Events:
Noteworthy fundraising events, including Child Friendly Lambeth and the National Autistic Society Cheer Point at the London Marathon, garnered significant support and contributions from the community.
Charitable Activities:
Our charity made substantial investments in charitable activities, such as providing musical education and support services to underserved communities. Governance and Compliance:
We maintained robust governance structures and adhered to legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring transparency and accountability in our operations.
Special Performances:
Proclamation of the King:
We had the honour of being the orchestra of choice for Lambeth's Proclamation ceremony, where we performed "God Save the King" for Lambeth Council members, Borough MPs, ministers, and community members. Additionally, we were selected as the band of choice for the launch of the Child Friendly Lambeth campaign. These opportunities allowed us to showcase our talent and support important community initiatives.
Partnership with the National Autistic Society:
Southside Org proudly partnered with the National Autistic Society, where we performed for them and other participants during the London Marathon. As an inclusive organisation, we are committed

to supporting individuals with autism and other disabilities. Having members who also have autism and other disabilities, Southside was delighted to provide encouragement and support. We recognise the importance of fostering understanding and acceptance of autism within the community and will continue to build inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and supported.
Lambeth Palace Conference:
The Lambeth Palace Conference, an esteemed gathering of Anglican bishops from around the world, was a remarkable event attended by 660 priests, bishops, and vicars coming from 165 different countries. Our performances were met with enthusiasm and joy, as bishops and vicars gracefully danced and sang along with delight. It was a testament to the power of music to unite and uplift communities across borders.
Challenges Faced:
Despite our achievements, we encountered certain challenges that tested our resilience and resourcefulness:
Financial Constraints:
Limited financial resources posed challenges in scaling our initiatives and expanding our reach to more beneficiaries.
Operational Hurdles:
Operational inefficiencies and logistical constraints occasionally hindered the seamless execution of our programs and events.
Future Outlook:
Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to driving positive change and fostering greater community upliftment:
Expansion of Programs:
We aim to expand our programmatic offerings and reach a wider audience through strategic partnerships and collaborations.
Enhanced Fundraising Efforts:
Efforts to diversify fundraising channels and engage with donors on a deeper level will be prioritised to ensure sustained financial sustainability.
