## **Trustees Report for Jarrow Musical Theatre Company- Registered charity number 1185706 from 31.5.20 - 1.6.21** 

The decision to gain charitable status in 2019 was made in order to raise much needed funds from grants, matched giving and gift aid. Once again, this has been slowed significantly due to COVID-19. The trustees are mostly committee members elected by the charity’s membership. They meet every month to plan the charity’s activities and review its finances. The trustees are listed below:

The trustees budget carefully for each production and obtain several quotes for costumes, scenery, theatre hire, sound and lighting before going ahead with a show. We do not have any debts. 

COVID19 and the subsequent and continuing Lockdowns made it impossible to meet together as a group to rehearse over the course of this period which has prevented us from fulfilling our aim of bringing affordable theatre to our community in the Jarrow area. Usually each year, approximately 2800 local people benefit from our aim. 

Our production of Jesus Christ Superstar that was planned for May 2020 had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. We were also unable to perform a Summer Concert or a pantomime during 2020. 

We resumed rehearsals in August 2021, when it was safe to do so. We continue to meet monthly to review our plans. In December 2021 we performed a Christmas Concert. We could no longer get the rights to postpone and perform ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ in May 2022 as it is going out on professional tour. We are currently in rehearsals for Mel Brooks’ ‘Young Frankenstein’ which will be performed in May 2022.
