SORP retsr¢n
Following the charity's milestone 40th
anniversary ￿lebratiOn last year, we
followed up with another high profile
speaker for our annual September event to
capitlise on the success of the year
p￿VIous. Although both events during this
financial year were a su¢¢ess in raising
significant sums for l¢xal causes, due to
the rising costs the charity faced. mainly
from the increased costs for event venues,
we made the decision to use more local
speakers at future events in 2025126
onwards. This would not only reduce costs
and increase the available funds to
distnbute to local charities and
organisations, it would also ￿lebrate local
achievements which is keeping with the
original aim of NELD to raise awareness of
female achievements in the North East.
Sumrnary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity's work has made to
the circumStan￿S of its
beneficiaries and any wwjer
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20
We held both our annual fundraising events
during this financial year. and we were very
successful in raising another significant
sum for local causes.

As a CIO, we worked hard to respond to
local charity's needs and their request for
support during this ongoing difficult
economic period and cost of living crisis. In
total this year we distributed £10,000
across 9 individual Gharty's and
organisalions. Examples of some of the
grants distributed included..
£2,400 on Christmas activities such as food
hampers for families unable to provide
especially during the school holidays and
presents for disadvantaged children.
£1,509 for the refurbishrnent of a kitchen
Spa￿ in a local community hub used as a
foodbank and warm space for those in
need within the local community.
£1,000 for the refurbishment of an outdoor
spac8 used for a local Mental health
support group.
£1,000 towards the funding of a website for
a local newly established menlal health
charity, to help raise awareness for the
charity and attract MO￿ funding.
£1,000 for funding an OLrtdoor teepee for a
local community group to be used for
outdoor nature and crafting artivities.
£1.000 towards the funding of a de-
escalation sensory room for a local
