For this event, we made the decision to engage with a high profi18 celebrity Speaker to make the event more special and maxirnise public engagement. This came at a higher Cost than previous yearfs speakers. However, this event - along with our Spring lunch, were very Sussful in raising another significant sum for local causes. Summary ofthe main achievements of the charity, identrfying the difference the charity's work has made to the Gircumstances of its benefi¢iarie$ and any wider benefits to society as a whole. Para 1.2a As a CIO, we worked hard lo respond to local charity's needs and their request for support during this uncertain economic period and cost of living crisis. In total this year we distributed over £17.000 across 15 individual charrty's and organisations. Examples of some of the grants distributed included- £3,720 on Christmas activities such as food ham rs for families unable to rovide
especially during the school holidays and presents for disadvantaged children. £1,OCrf) for the provision of nursery equipment and food parcels for a local women's shelter. £1,000 for the provision of equipment for play and sensory roorn for children with special educational needs and disabilrties. £1.700 for the provision of young persons and family summer events in the local communty, and free entertainment evenings al a local communrty hall. £1,000 for funding the music service and Community choir for 2 years to help combat loneliness in the community. £2.500 for funding free walking group sessions to help cornbat loneliness and help to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the loc21 community. £1,500 for funding care packages for berèaved parents and neonatal families. £1,200 for funding hydrotherapy pool sessions for people SLsffenng with fibromyalgia. £1.500 for funding the production of a video project for a local charity providing free therapy for bereaved families impacted by suicide, with an aim to reduce the numter of deaths by suicide in the local area. £1.500 for funding one month of shifts for volunteers of a local charity providing a professional transport service of bltxjd for patients across the North East. £1,000 for funding one month of goods at the local food bank. The future objectives for the CIO is to larget a younger demographic audien for our annual events with the aim to achieve a wider spread of donations. Following this yearfs milestone event, we considered how to maximise fiJture profits to enable us to distribute more funds to local charity's and organisations each year. This included engaging with our supporters more dosely via social media and updating our charty's website, and the consrderation of no longer using celebrity speakers at the events, whose fees take up a large portion of the funds raised that could be spent on local causes. Financial Review Review of the charity's financial position at the end of the period Par8 121 During the period under review, we have raised £3,367 (grants and donations) and £39,845 (fundraising activities), resulting in total income of £43,212. After expenditure (including grants made to Charities) of £45,623 we had a deficit of £2.411 for the period resulting in overall total surplus funds of £11.362 as of 31 St March 2024.
