Name of organisation: Denver Playing Field Association CIO

Charity Number: 1185665

Trustees: Chair: Jo Redcar

Treasurer: Giles Lewis Secretary: Mike Hutchinson

## **Purpose:**

Our purpose is to provide and maintain the land and buildings known as Denver Playing Field and Pavilion for the benefit of the inhabitants of Denver and the surrounding area. The facilities include cricket and football pitches, a pavilion, hard-surfaced car park, children’s play area and open grass for general activity

## **Committee and Trustees:**

The committee is drawn from local residents who would like to make a contribution to the management of the playing field. Committee members are elected at the AGM in February, when there is the opportunity for existing members to step down and new members to be appointed.

There are currently three trustees, who are the main oice-holders.

##

- Cricket – Men, women, mixed and junior teams

- Football – currently only junior teams

- Car parking for drop-o and pick-up from the local primary school

- Annual Village Fun Day

-

- Fitness and training clubs

- Car Boot events through the summer months

- Visiting circus

- Visiting funfair

## **Key priorities and achievements:**

outside of the pavilion. This has started to rust and was in danger of becoming unsafe. With our own fundraising and the support of a grant from CIL, this was achieved in June.

Another priority was to improve the children’s play area, which is small and dated. This is a large project and dependent on significant support from grant bodies. It is anticipated that this could take a number of years to achieve but the process has started and we will push forward as quickly as we can.

Having managed to resurface the car park – to make it safer and more useable in wet weather – there is a plan to improve the lighting and security.

## **Finances and fundraising:**

running the playing field can be broken down into two main categories:

Routine running costs: this will include utilities, maintenance, insurance etc

expansion of children’s play equipment etc

Fundraising is done through a number of activities:

- Rent from cricket and football clubs

- Income from car boot fairs

- Surplus from Fireworks

- Surplus from Fun Day

- Circus rent

- Funfair rent

- Other users – eg Fitness clubs
