DIRECTORS, REPORT The Directors are pleased to present their Annual Report together with rhe financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024. Structure & Management Constltuflon Elvaston Castle and Gardens Trust is a company limited by guarantee (no. 111145491, incorporated on 15 December 2017. The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of rhe company and is governed under its Articles of Association. On 4 October 2019 Elvaston Castle and Gardens Trust became a registered charity Ino. 1185617). The number of Directors of the Trust shall not be less than seven bur shall not be subject to any maximum. The Directors ofthe companyare also charityTrustees for the purposes ofcharity law and under the companls Articles are known as members of (he Management Committee. Under the requirements of the Memorandum and Articles of Association the members of the Management Committee are elected to serve for a period of three years after v4hich they rnu5t be re-elected, no member may serye for more than 12 years. During such time that Derbyshire Counrycouncil providesfundingtotheTrust. Dertyshire Countycouncil may appoint one Trustee. This Trustee. if appointed, may not hold the post of either Chair or Vice-chair of the Trust, All members of the Management Committee give their tlme voluntarily and received no benefits from the charity. Any expenses reclaimed from the charity are set out in note 4 to the accounts. Members Lloblllty Each member of the Trust undertakes to contribute to the assets of the Trust in the event of it bein8 wound up while they are a member. or within one year after they cease to be a member, such a5 may be required. not exceeding El, for the debts and liabilities contracted before they ceased to be a member. The Directors act as the overall management board for the organisation. They have ultimate responsibility for the running, operations, and finances of the trust.

At present the Committee has seven members from a variety of professional backgrounds. This is distributed to all new Directors along with the Memorandum and Arricles. Risk Management The Management Committee has conducted a review of the major risks to which the charity is exposed. A risk register is established and is updated at least annually.

Our core aim is to ensure Elvaston Country Park remains open to the public and accessible. providing vital green space, leisure facilitie5, and inclusive community events for the people of Derbyshire and beyond. We are committed to delivering lasting improvements that protect and enhance the estate, while also supporting educational opportunities which vlill in turn facilitate the development and restoration of the estate. Secured £19,0% from The National Lottery Community Fund to launch The Elvaston Community Allotment, which includes recruiting a part-time Volunteer Coordinator, growing a regular volunteer group and engaging a broader range of community participants. Began work to remove silos within the volunteer workforce. improving collaboration and flexibility across roles, Partnered with local corporate organisations to deliver paid staff volunteering days, generating income and deliverin8 significant on-site projects. Secured funding for the purchase and retum of historic stained.glass wndows from the Gothlc Hall. Increased public access ro rhe estat¥s core buildings and gardens durin8 community engagement events and an open house event and launching castle tours and garden tours Partnered with Derbyshire MIND to deliver seasonal wellbeing walks in the nature reserve. Hosted creative workshops wth communitygroups who had not prewously visited Elva5ton, to understand barriers and improve diversity onslte. Supported Derbyshire County Council in planning a three-year Management and Enterprise Plan for the estate. strengthening strategic collaboration and buildin8 relationships with key partners to secure Elvaston's sustainable future. Completed the Nurturing Nature project in Elvaston's Local Nature Rese￿e. launching a new family nature trail and educational booklet, and hosting a free community family day.

The Trust works in partnership with Derbyshire County Council to support the management and development of Elvaston Country Parl which remains free for public access on foot. The Trust is committed to securing a sustainable future for the estate as a vital community a55et, serving both the local area and the wider county and region. Through ongoing development and reinvestment. the Trust continues to create opportuniries for training, education, and community engagement, deliverin8 broad social. cultural. and economic benefits. All surplus funds are reinvested into the estate to improve facilities, enhance the Msitor experience, and support an inclusive programme ofcommunity and heritage events. In 2024, the Trust focused on expanding its regular volunteer group as part of the Nurturing Nature project, delivered in Elvaston's Local Nature Reserve with funding from the Sevem Trent Community Fund. The project engaged local individuals, charities and community groups. offering shared learnin& the development of new skills, and irnproved health and wellbeing through ourdoor activity. The project concluded in summer 2024 with the reinstatement of a publlc nature trail and the launch of an educats'onal booklet. Building on this success, the Trust will develop and implement a new volunteer strategy for the estate. Working in collaboration with volunteers, the Trust plans to open key areas of the estate's historic core buildings and host a series of heritage and community evenis, further enhancin8 public access. engagement, and benefit. In 2025, the Trust will also launch an oral history project to collect and preserrfe stories from individuals connected to Elvaston across generations. This initiative V4ill amplify local voices. strengthen community connections to the estate. and contribute to a deeper understanding of its social and cultural history. Alongside this, the Trust15 actively working to protect and catalogue the estate's historic archives. ensuring these valuable records are preserved arsd acce55ible for future generations. Both projects will support education, research, and public interpretation, significantly enriching the cultural value of the estate and reir)forcing its role as a shared community resource.

Advance the cataloguing and preseNation of the estate's historic archives for education and public research. 8. Develop innovarive educational opportunities to engage schools. families and lifelong learners. Financial Report for the Year Invesfment Pollry The cash balances held by the Trust have not enabled significant investment to take place during 2024 with funds being held on deposit with the bank in interest bearin8 accounts. The Dlrectors will seek to invest surplus funds in a manner to obtain the best possible return and these are invested wtth reputable investors. Reserves Poll(y The Trust has reseNes totalling £32.452 12023: £16.755) at the end of the year. These are split between the unrestricted and restricted reserves and ¥MII be used to fund the development of the Trust into 2025 and beyond to fulfil the Trusfs charitable objectives. NOTES TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS Note I: Accounting Policie5 Basls ofpreparat The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Companies Act 2006 and Financial Reporting Standard for Small Entiiies. Fundaccounting Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives ofthe company. Designated funds are unrestrirted funds earmarked by the Directors for particular purposes. Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of a fundraising appeal. Incomingresources All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when the company is entitled to. and virtually certain to receive, the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. The following policies are applied to particular categories of income: Voluntary income is received by way of grants. donations and gifts and is included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities vthen receivable. Grants, where entitlement is not conditional on the delivery of a specific performance by the charity. are recognised when the charity becomes unconditionally entitled to the grant. Investment income is included when receivable. Incoming resources from charitable trading acrivity are accounted for when earned. Incoming resources from grants, vthere related to performance and specific deliverables, are accounted for as the chariry earns the right to consideration by its performance. The value of any voluntary help received is not induded in the accounts but is described in the Trustees, annual report. 12
