Our sea-ba3ed training is run by a team of instructors that all hove RYA in$lructor li¢en¢es arKI more
Importanlty., Search & Rescue experience. During our training courses, we introduce techniques of
rescue and then assess the readlness of our students through r¢alisli¢ warios and a series ol
examinats'ons. Our training is intensive and follows a rigorous standard of practieÈ, ensuring cvjr crew are
well equipped lo work in the field. Currently we offer the followlng SAR courses. RYA Powerboat Levet 1
& 2,, 'Summer School,, 'Search and Rescue Fundamental$ Part 1, and 'RYA Powerboat L￿81 1 & 2..
Our Casualty Care course was designed by Saviour Medical, an industry leader in first aid training and is
reL8ted directly to the activities that we train in Search & Res¢ue al $ea. We use 8 detailed check c2rd
system th8t provides our crew th a compr8hensive mechanism lo deal wilh peO￿e in neèd. Our
Casualty ca￿ Kit was designed in accordance wllh our check cards and we train our crew how lo use
everything that is Contained wf(hin our medical krft ba9s. We have our own medic81 team including a
Doctor as our medi￿1 direcaor, who oversees the implementatlon of our training and the development of
our course for the future.
Our psychological first aid {PFAI for humanri#ri#n$ helps partlClP8nts prepare for thwr own experiences
in emergency rescue and crisis response. As part of this ￿￿r$e we also orientsle participants to offer
PFA lo people follosmng a sgriou$ crisis event. We discuss PFA as the humane, supportive and practi¢21
assistsnce for people who are in distress. whilst conslderlng and respecting thwr dignity, culture and
abilities.
EdU￿tIon is vital to reduce the number5 of people who drown every year. In the UK. Allantic Pacific offers
educational sessions for prfmary schools, secondary ￿h0O19, colleges 8nd universf(ies as well as local youth
community groups. These introduce ideas ar¢JJnd being aware of 8nd how to be safe in water and 8180 highlight
what's going on in Ihe wider wodd and the risk of natural disasters and cllmate chang8. A￿a￿￿C P&lfic's new
offica is located al Royal Dock$ Adventure. London and as part of our activity w? will bg running an outreach
programm8 wth the local community to encourage children and young people to be Confident on tho watsr. They
11 also leam baslc boallng and searth and rescue skills.
InleTnati¢)nally, we offer 8n outreach educatbnal progT8mme to the local youth community wrth every Lifeboat in
Box progromme. Currently in Japan. where our first Lifeboat in a Box 1$ lo¢atgtJ, we offer a yJmm8r camp for
local chiklren, 8nd those from across the county, to come and learn about sea safety, se8 pollutlon. sea ￿ld11[e
and search and rescue techniques. hope that these children and young people wll devebp wth us to
become Allanllc Pacffic crew and eventually in81ructors who can both teach the nexl generation of children local
lo our bases in Royal Dccks and Kamalshl, Japan. We also hope they can be deployed inteTnatK)naSly with our
Lrfeboat in a Box programme, or as a rapid rgsponse highty trained crew.
Th18 year we have the newly developed 'lntroduction to M8dKine' course, whith Is 8 5 day cours8 Offe￿n9 the
Casualty Care Qualrfication as well as lectures and workshops from doctors, nurses, paramedics ar￿ other
medically quallfth people wor￿ng in the SAR field, We first ran this course in October 2022 and have most
recently completed the S day course as a residential course at UWC Allanlic in Summer 2023.

field, SAR vessel specffication guidance and general ¢onsultan¢y on SAR operation¥ l actwities. In 2022123 V•*
worked with Several NGOS operating in the SAR field, offerin9 them bespoke training as well as guid￿Ce on
vessel's surtable for the field. Robin Jenkins, our CEO was also asked to parliwate ¢)n SKY News, and BBC
Radio tslkiryJ on the topics of migration from a SAR perspeclive.
Achlev•ments and perfoTrnanc•
Royal Docks HQ
In October 2022. the shell of our new building al Royal Docks was delivered. In the followng months the
electricty MnneGtion was made. and then finally in November 2023 the water supply was connected. kn April
2023 the building became 8 formal RYA Training Centr8 and in Fabruary 2024 Ihg centre was formally cp8nad.
The centre has gone from St￿n9¢h lo Strength and n¢x¥ offers a variety of Gour5es and services.
UWC Atlantl¢:
After six years of continuous devekJpmen( AP were delighted to sign a fiva year agrgement wth UWC AtlanttG for
dellverfng 'AP@AC' CAS {and now Prent(8) to 16 In¢)w 24) students. AP￿c runs every Wednesday and
Thursday aftemoon at UIAC Atlantic. Robin Jenkins and the team have also worked hard to re-lntroduce sea
going with APS 11eet of handmade boats. Thiough rigorous documenlakn"on, all boats passed the Rescue Boat
Code and were slgned off by an extemal Inspector for use al UWC Atlantlc as part of the AP
C progr8mme.
Atlantlc Paclflc JapaTr:
Since deliverirwj Atlant￿ P8cffjIc'8 first LIfe￿￿t in a Box to Kamaishi in Augu8t 2016, Atlantic Pac￿ has been
committed lo the sustainabilty of the operation in Japan. Atlantic Pacific Japan {APJI has been established and
registered as an Ippan Shaddan Hojin in Japan 2019. This entty is now responsible for the owalion of the
Lffeboal ststion and its crew in Kamaishi.
AP and APJ have delNered six summer 5thcols {2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2D231 and one Sprfing Camp
{Ma￿h 20231 in N8bama Bay local and national participants. We arg currently preparlng for our seventh
programme in Summer 2024. During COVID, APJ continued lo operate, delivering online courses and ￿IrtUal
camps, in 2020 and 2021. The Nippon Foundabon hos been a fimi supporter of th8 project slnce 2019, and has
funded the La$1 4 years of activities direcuy.
The thjture looks bright in Japan as we continue lo attract both local, national and international young people io
travel to Kamaishi and loin our trainlng and oUt￿8¢h programmes. The development of a Sea Safety c￿tre
(much like the one in Royal Docks) is algo in development, with diSCUSSKJn with the Nlppon Foundation about
funding the programm& throu9h their N8glsa no Koban schem&.
Tralnlng:
In order to deliver the LIB to Japan tr8ln Ioc81 crew. AP delNered a training eAmp for instructors ¥[￿lIr￿j
Japan at UWC Atlant￿ in South Wales. The summer camp was extended to other extemal partiapants. n*inly
drawn from volunteers worklng in the refugee crlsls in the Mediterranean. Following on from th8 success of thls
summer School. AP now runs an annual summer tmining programme. Followng 8 two ygaT hiatus whilst adhering
lo COVID regulations, AP returned lo UWC Aliantlc thls summer and hosted 32 new participants. The summer
school was a great success with mary going off to volunteer in the current migration crises in the Mediterranean
Sea and furthgr afidd.
Our 'Search & Rescug Fundamentals Part 1, course in Royal Docks grow8 Stronger four more cournes
delwered in 2022123. Students are now paying £550 for the four day course. Having suceesyfully delivered Ihe
course multiple limes, AP is working on developing 'Search & Rescue Fundamentals. Part 2,.
Our SAR Fundamentals course (or parts of ill have also been d81iver8d futher afield. with our in$tru¢l¢)rs
travelling to our partners (predominantly based in Italy and Sicily} to work with our NGO partners weiking in thg
Mediterranean.

The development of our P$ycholog¢cal FirstAid course has been bolstered vAth a grant frcm the Lbyd's Register
Foundation to support tts develcpment into a PFA Manual that can be offered 88 a free r880urce to all marfners.
Boal Doslgn and Bulldlng:
After successfully designing and building Hahn 001 Iwales Gol which was deployed in the LIB to Japan, AP has
since built 3 more Hahn Class boats and 1$ in the process of developing a Hahn Evoluiion boat. based on the
Hahn Class. It is a clear ambition to develop the design of the Hahn Class in order lo deliver our next LIB. For the
last few years AP has been limr(ed on our b¢at building capauty, however in 2022123 we Invested, th the
support of UWC Atlantic, in the SOLrth workshop at Sl Donats, and develowd a functional space lo start the boat
building procos$. With thi5 new Space we are ￿rrentlY working on boats which we hoFe to cc¥nplete in
2023124.
Edu¢atlonal Outr¢ach:
AP have been working hard on our educational outreach prcgrammes, espgcially in Ngwham. Wa have work8d
y￿t￿ numerous primary and secondary Schools in the borough to deliver a mixlur& of ath'vrties includng Sea
safèty, oeèan awareness and protection In prbmary 8thools lo our casu81ty care qualification and boa handling
programmes in Se￿ndary schools. In tt*l18bor8￿0n ￿th AAA Zorse and supported by the Coop Fund, we were
pleased to offer the opportunty for 12 young people from Newham Io visit us at UWC AUantiG lor four nights in
May hawlgmi 2023 to leam search and rescue skills. We have also b88n worknng wlh four Year 9 stuJ8nts from
Schoo121 on a weekly basis lor one tern lo give them lrfesaving skills.
Our OLrtreaeh programme has a180 been successful in W8les with Ihe generous and continuous support from
Reatdon Smith Nautical Trust. We have had 4 local young people under 25 as AP Intsms f￿ btheen one and
o years learning search and rescJJe skills and obtwning their RYA Powerboat 2 licentÈ, AP Casualty Care
Qualification 8nd AP Search and Rescue Fundamentals, Part 1 ￿rtIfiCate. We have also SUPPDrted over 12
welsh dorniciles under 25 young people in places on our annual summer school programme.
Our oulreach programme in Kamaishi also go8$ from strength to strengih with the developmenl of 'AP Club,,
which is free for anyong li￿n9 in th8 local area to come and le8m a sè&related skill (sailing. fishing, lifeguarding.
search and rescue} as well as experiment ￿ our Ocean revival plastsc machines.
Our Impact
Over the last seven years AP ha5., delivered one LIB to Th)rthem Japan120161'. delThiered six summer sthools in
Walas, eight summer schools in Japan (two online).. trained just over 700 crew. of %thich 50% have been
deployed.. delivered a course for 146 UWC students (Japan and Walesl., engaged with 18CY)+ young people from
the UK Isoulhwark. Newham, Bromley, Cardlff) and Japan {various prefectures): won 2 awards (NESTA Ne
Radicals & Points of Lightl and been shtsrtl1sl￿I ft¥ the British Business Awards from the Br￿sh Chamber of
Commerce Japan {2019, 20221. From this acliwly we have,. prO￿ded ov8r 170 train8d crew into the re*Jgee
crisis, saving an estimated 35.000 lives., taught the four rules of se8 safety to 1800+ young people in the hope
that If they wll be safe in andlor near water,. and we have provided a lifesaving asset to a community in Nothern
Japan. which has regeneral8d the region through promoting a lifprsaving service l¢xate(l on the beach
shorefront.

wrth UWC Alantic foT the delivery of our programme in Wales and achieved RYA Training Centre a￿redI￿tIOn.

The chadty has a policy of holdlng reserves lo cover 3 month8 of expenses $0 Ihgt in the event of a lad( of
Incom6 the charty can decide how lo manage any ftrture owrational C£•mmitments and If necessary lake
measures to close the charlty. The charity usually generates reserves by selllng merchandise or 98nwating
unrestricted donations. Merchandise is usually sold via our courses and 8(aivities at UWC Auantic. (￿ng to the
delay In compleling our building at Royal Docks our reserves remain low as AP ContinL￿8 lo recover from the
finandal hf( of cancelllng courses In 2022123 frcffl leachlng Space restridons and a180 the longer terni impact of
cwrse cancellation from the COVID pandernic of 20121. The tharity did nol hold free re8erves al the year ond
as these were a negatNe balance of £23,292.
However wlh the dellvery of courses al Royal Docks 51ovAy bulkSing, and ￿￿th regular offerings of courses for the
foreseeable future, AP anlirypate that they will be able to increase their free reserves back up to 3 month

The charity has a policy of holding reserves to cover 3 months of 8xpenses so that In the 8vent of a lad( ol
income the charity can deude how to manage any fulure operatlDnal commitments and il necessary lake
measures lo closè the charity- The charity usually generates reserves by selling merchandise or generating
unrestricted donation5. Merchandise 15 Usually sold via our courses and activities 81 UWC Atlantlc. Owing lo
the delay in cornpletlng our bulldin9 at Royal Dod(¥ our reserves remain low as AP continue5 to re￿￿r from
the financi81 hll of c8ncelling courses in 2022123 from teaching space reslriclions and also the lorger term
impact of cour8e cancellation from the COVID pandemic of 20121. The Gharity did not hold free reserves al the
year end as these were a negative balance of £23.292.
However with the delivery of courses at Royal Dod(9 8iovAy building. and wmh regular offerings of cour¥8$ foT
the foreseeable fvlure. AP anticipate that they vlll be able to increase thebr frèè reserves back up to the 3
month period by the and of 2023124. Courses as well as merchandise sales and unrestricted donations wll be
th8 focus of raising funds lo achieve 12 months reserves.
At the time of approving Ihe finwal slètemenls, the truslees have a re8sonable expectalirjn that the tharty
has adequate resources lo continue in operalional e￿$tence for the foreseeable future. Thus Ihe trLElees
continue lo 4dopl the going concem basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
