Thi5 included the processing of 288 bu5 passe5, 113 disabled blue badges and 930 tourist information enquiries. The year included adiviknes linked to the town's 850" anniversary lin 20231 and a grant forjust under EIOK was obtsined from English Heritage to fund them. The funding VMS mainly for the staging of two Medieval markets. The main market was held in July linked to the gUlar Castle Artisan market and was considered to be very successful. As well as regular stalls there were activities for childrEn and a procession comprising approximately So participants headed by'KinE Henry11 and Queen Eleanor and most participants including musicians were dressed in Medieval costume. The second market was held in November linked to the regular Christmas market held at the central parish church and which was turned into 'Ye Olde St Nicholas Fayre. It comprised stalls inside and outside the church. a procession with minstrels and a dramatic production of the lrfe of St Nicholas and musical entertainment inside the thurch. Regular Saturday opening has continued. Thi5 was essential for the preparation of material for the Mediaeval markets and special fiag making workshops were held, involving a lot of children and their families. The funding fDr hiring of the premises came from the Erant. An Art Club wa5 bolted onto the Craft Club from January 2024, some funding for which (for publicity and equipment) was obtsined from the County Councillor fund and fijnding was also obtsined from the National Grid for heating costs and which also covered the cost of rentsl hire from January to March and refreshment costs for the Place of Welcome/ Warm Space. Membership and donations were maintained and donations increased substantially. the dSt majority of which qualify for inclusion in the HMRC Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme. It wés decided by the trustees subsequent to the 2023 AGM that there would be a move to the same renewal date for everyone which is now February each year.
The year saw a big increase in }lunteer expenses fortravel and the fact that several volunteer5 were claiming this, although there We the speL731 events which neces5it3ted more trips for one of them. As result, however, the trustees have deaded reluctantly that it is no loroer possible to reimburse travel costs, even though this is considered as nom)al practice within organis?n$. There has a150 been a large increase in refreshment costs due to the massive increase in footfall. These Vre covered by the National Grid fund but this money will not be available for most of the 2024-25 finanaal year.
