## **REDEEMED KOSEUNTI C&S CHURCH (ALADURA)**

The Trustees of Redeemed Koseunti C&S Church hereby present the annual report as approved by all members of the board for the year April 1[st] 2022 to March 31[st] 2023.

## **THE TRUSTEES.**

The Trustees of Redeemed Koseunti C&S Church (Aladura) RKC&S, remain the same as at the date when this account was prepared. The details of the Trustee members can be found under the section of “Contact details” of the Charity Commission website.

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES.**

The main objective of the Church is to advance the Christian religion for the benefit of the public in accordance with the doctrines and teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ through holding of prayer meetings, evangelism, lectures, distribution of literature and tracts, broadcasting, theological education and other charitable means in line with the Christian ethos of the church.

The Church conducted its first service on the 7th of April 2019 through the inspiration of God and the commitment of its members. The Church was duly registered with the United Kingdom Charity commission in September of the same year with the Charity number 1185464.

The church faced some challenges in the first few months of its inception as we were moving from one rented hall to another until we were able to secure a permanent rented place of worship in August 2019 which is situated at Unit 2 Creek Road Barking, IG11 0JH.

The Church has a well-designed and structured activities and strategies put in place to achieve its set objectives, which includes organising seminars and events with proven ministers of the faith and experienced speakers to guide members in the various aspects of the Christian faith as well as organising free Theology school for members and the general public.

The Church also has a prayer and counselling unit in the Church which supports members and the general public that require such support in line with our Christian faith. We support other charities and Christian events in the little way we can and we are seeing the impact in our host community as we are attracting more members within the community.

The Church, in accordance with its objective of developing more leaders as well as fostering unity and participation from all members created seven bands in March 2022 to serve as prayer groups within the church. These bands have been helping in ensuring that periodic cell prayer meetings are organised and members are regularly checked upon.

The bands are Deborah Band, Dorcas Band, Ruth Band, Mary Band, Roda Band, David Band and Moses Band.

Our total income for the year is £120,041.56, while our total expenditure for the year is £59,857.81 which leaves us with a surplus of £60,183.75. Our major expenses this year is the church rent with a total amount of £48,000.00 spent on the church rent alone.

The impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic is still slightly felt during this financial year as some members are yet to resume physically for church service but rather choose to join the service online.

## **FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS**

The charity aims as part of fulfilling its main objectives, to continue to improve and explore various ways of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in the advancement of the Christian faith and ethics to the benefit of the public. The charity is also aiming to grow in membership and continue to develop its members to make life-changing impact in the society. The Church has already started the initiative to organise and arrange musical instruments training for the youth and willing adults in the community to develop their skills and interest in music. This is aimed at engaging them productively and discourage them from involving in violent or criminal tendencies. The Church will continue to improve on this remarkable task, to develop talents for the church and the society at large.

The Church will also continue to promote more participation and involvement amongst members by creating leadership training and opportunity for members. This has been demonstrated with the creation of more bands within the women and men fold in the Church.

The Church has a long term plan of getting a sustainable permanent place of worship for the Church in form of mortgage to reduce the burden and overhead cost of the Church.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

As the Charity act requires the “Trustees to prepare financial accounts for each financial year. The account should give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the church and of any surplus or deficit in the church for that accounting year”.

The finance department of Redeemed Koseunti C&S (Aladura) is responsible for proper accounting records which discloses reasonable accuracy and transparency at all times to ensure that the financial statements/account comply with the Charities Act. They are responsible for ensuring that the correct procedure and control is followed at all times to prevent fraud and/or irregularities. The Trustees confirm that the church finances are vigorously monitored by this department which is also corroborated by an independent volunteer.

## **STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Annual report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The account should give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the church and of any surplus or deficit of the church for that accounting year. In preparing these accounts, the Trustees are required to select suitable accounting policies to be applied consistently, to make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent, to state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice (SORP) were used and prepare the financial statements based on going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the church will continue in operation.

The Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year’s account but an independent examination is needed, under the Charities Act 2011 section 145 subsection 1(a)”examined by an independent examiner, that is, an independent person who is reasonably believed by the trustees to have the requisite ability and practical experience to carry out a competent examination of the accounts”. Therefore, a voluntary independent from the members of the congregation reported that
