- The prevention and relief of poverty in Nigeria by providing grants and services to poor children to enable them start and complete educational or vocational qualifications through which they can lift themselves out of poverty. 

- The advancement of education in Nigeria by providing grants, tutoring and mentoring facilities to poor children who would otherwise be unable to access good quality educational institutions.

- Any other charitable purposes that will contribute to the development of poor children in Nigeria who would otherwise lack the vision, influences and training necessary to develop vital life skills. 

In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. 

The charities provides scholarship for children from disadvantaged background to attend secondary school. 

- Scholarship covers tuition, books, uniform, school bags and shoes. 

- We also provided mentoring and pastoral support to the scholars by attending school open days and advising the scholars as appropriate.

## Section D                      Achievements and erformance p 

In our commencement session (2019/2020), we received scholarship **Summary of the main** applications from eleven (11) pupils who were nominated from a state- **achievements of the charity** funded primary school in Ibadan, Nigeria. **during the year** Emmanuel Scholars paid the fees for each pupil to sit the National Common Entrance Examination, as well as the entrance examinations of the selected Secondary School. Three pupils (2 girls and a boy) of the initial 11, who were the only successful candidates at both examinations were selected to become the pioneer Emmanuel Scholars. The selected Emmanuel Scholars undertook an induction with their parents/guardians and signed the scholarship agreement forms in September 2019. The students started JSS 1 in September 2019 and have moved to the next academic year. They have settled in and we have been able to provide both educational and pastoral support. We also provided additional educational  and financial support during the covid lockdown period.

Cash at bank at 31/08/2020 was £2,925 in unrestricted funds. The main **Brief statement of the** financial risk to the charity is reduced donations. The funds are held to **charity’s policy on reserves** cover scholars fees in the event of a loss of income and to meet any unforeseen expenditure that may occur.

Our main source of funds this year has been donations from trustees and You **may choose** to include individuals. The income is applied to the awards and clubs related additional information, where activity. With the main costs incurred being tuition fees. relevant about: 

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising); 

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; 

- investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.

## **Future plans** 

We intend to increase the number of students funded to at least ten (10) by the end of the next academic year 

To that end, we intend to use digital platforms to garner more awareness and hopefully gain more sponsors for the charity. 

The charity will host an outreach event “ **Emmanuel Fest** ” in summer of 2021 to reach out to about 50-100 more students from economically disadvantaged background, apart from the students we are sponsoring. The objective of **Emmanuel Fest** is to widen the reach and impact more disadvantaged children on short term basis every year.
