When patrolling was<br>possible and permitted, we were still out but<br>generally not so late at night.<br>Provision of items to improve the safety, health<br>and condition of the people the Street Pastors<br>meet, e.g., bottles of water, flip flops, space<br>blankets<br>Giving of time and listening and talking with<br>people the volunteers meet whilst out on patrol.<br>Provision of practical advice and support where<br>requested, and referral to relevant professional<br>bodies.<br>Enabling an appropriate response to the many<br>varied situations that occur during the patrol<br>hours on the streets of Winchester. |Contribution made by<br>volunteers|Para 1.38|A great contribution is made by our volunteer<br>Pastors.<br>We are very grateful to our ~50 volunteers for<br>the >40 hours each has committed to the initial<br>training in order to become a Street Pastor and<br>their on-going giving of ~6 hours overnight each<br>month to complete their designated patrol,<br>during which they are making themselves<br>available<br>to<br>deal<br>with<br>many<br>varied<br>circumstances.<br>Many hours are spent listening to and<br>encouraging the people they meet and without<br>their contribution of time, energy and love we<br>would not have been able to achieve so much.<br>In addition, many of the volunteers have chosen<br>to also join or maintain their giving through our<br>1 in a 100 standing order donation scheme, to<br>help us raise the required funds to provide the<br>service.|
