The Shaquan Sammy-Plummer foundation has enabled the founder, Jessica Plummer to carry out the following activities:

- Volunteer at schools across the UK to give talks to disenfranchised children about the dangers to knife crime and to encourage them to make better decisions.

- Worked with the Met Police

- Spoke on a podcast about knife crime

- Held fun days in Shaquan’s honour

One of the main things Jessica does as part of the foundation is to go into schools and meet with children who are on the verge of being expelled, children who have been caught with a knife previously, and children who need extra support. When giving these talks, Jessica want the kids to understand that she is listening without judgement and provide them with all the support to help them make the right choices in life.

Jessica also works alongside St Mellitus church to assist with the knife drop off bin. She engages with the parents within the community and supports them without judgement. She encourages and nurtures warm and welcoming relationships with the parents of young children, so that they know that there is someone available to help them. Jessica also works with the Met police to educate them how to better approach the children within the community, and build a more understanding relationship, so that the young people will not feel attacked when they are approached by the police.

Jessica strives to encourage people within the community to work together for the children to better our community.

In the next year, Jessica would like to increase the number of schools she does outreach work with, and carry out more fundraisers to raise money for the foundation.

Impact of the pandemic on the foundation meant we were unable to hold further fund days for children to come together and raise funds for the foundation and Jessica was unable to visit schools and continue to speak about the dangers of carrying a knife and provide support to young children.
