Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
This year has been beset with problems for the Gala Players following the Delta Covid restrictions of the previous year we looked forward to getting back on track and producing a Pantomime in February as usual. The onset of the Omicron variant meant further restrictions. Several on-line conferences were held and it was decided that with suitable measures in place we could start rehearsing Cinderella. As further restrictions were announced we adapted our rehearsals to suit current guidelines these rehearsals though satisfactory were not as well supported as previous years because our group has a large proportion of vunerable and shielding members, never the less we struggled on with the optimistic hope that all would be alright in the end.
As a self-funding group we rely on our takings from performances to fund our next production, when it became unlikely that we could have audiences and that social distancing would make performance impossible we reluctantly took the decision to cancel the production.
Members of our group have gone above and beyond to try to make this work but all to no avail in the end. I would like to thank them for their efforts. We will carry on and start rehearsing in September and perform Cinderella in February 2023.
